Radar detector to interrupt HK audio
« on: July 12, 2012, 11:56:12 PM »

Ok, here is what I've got.
RT 665, NIM, HK Bluetooth module and I want to have my Escort 9500's alert interrupt the various HK audios.
Is it as simple as installing another 3.5mm splitter and wiring the audio out from the radar into the NIM?

Or does this require ANOTHER module be crammed into the fairing?

Thanks for any help.

How did you get both the NIM & the Harley Bluetooth module to work, they use the same inputs? NIM installation instructions specifically say you can not use the NIM if you have the Bluetooth module.

As far as your radar goes it would not be as simple as adding a cable. I do not know of any thing on the market that would work with your setup but some one else might.

Jim, I'm just finishing up with adding the NIM.
So I can't use the HK Bluetooth with the NIM?
Well, that changes everything..........

Maybe have to sell the HK module and get the module you sell?
I will have to research this some more. All I want is to take calls on my HD headset, listen to various audio inputs and to have my radar input interrupt the audio. Doesn't seem like much right??

Now about the radar detector audio, I guess it's time to figure out what extra module I need and where to install it.
I seem to remember something called a Cellset or Mixit or something like that.

Both the cellset and the mixit work by switching the source for your helmet speakers. This is not interrupting the radio per say it is just switching the source but it should work as long as you always wear your helmet with speakers.

You can connect both the Harley Bluetooth Module and the NIM by taping into the wires but the radio will not be able to tell which module has priority so a conflict is immanent.
