When mine doesn't play, I cycle thru the modes.  Am.  Fm.  Weather,, all the way back to iPod.   Then it plays fine.  It seems to reset itself that way.    Try it.  :)

I have had a few oddities with using the nano or my iPhone too. A couple of times after restarting the bike, no sound. I would unplug it and replug it in and then it would work fine. Sometimes it will not show the next correct song title. Plays fine, but doesn't upgrade to the correct title. My factory Chrysler RB1 radio in my Dodge truck will do the same thing regarding the title of the song. One thing I wish it did would be start where it left off. By that I mean when starting out the next day or so, the iPod will start back at the beginning of my song list. Does the same thing in my truck when using my iPhone. No biggie though, it's a lot better than the CD player I had in the tour pack on my 2001 SE Roadglide. Any little bump would make the CD player stop. I didn't even use it while riding. So the iPod thing is far superior.

The way I corrected this was to perform the following procedure when getting off of the bike.  1.  Turn off the motorcycle using the start switch on the handlebar.  2.  Turn off the radio. 3.  Turn off the ignition switch (the big triangular knob). This has worked every time for me. The iPod picks up where it left off.

Time to run past the dealer - let them troubleshoot and find the problem.

Today went for a ride listened to the iPod. Stopped for about a half hour, started up and the iPod quit playing after about 3 seconds. Toggled through AM-FM-CD-WB-XM back to iPod. Only plays about 3 seconds and then silence. Tried that a couple of times, same result. Switched to XM and listened to that. Next time I stopped, I shut down the iPod with the 3 buttons on top and rebooted it. Played fine then. Same result if I unplug it and replug it in..never had this issue on the Road King I traded in! Oh wait, I didn't have any tunes on it! HaHa!

Yep, that's normal with the iPod kit on mine too.  The firmware is absolutely krapp!  Just back from my 4288 mile trip, and the iPod misbehaving drives me mad.  I cannot believe just how bad the firmware is.  >:(

Out again today. iPod wouldn't play after I stopped for awhile. This time I hit the (+scroll) button in the upper left of the head unit and scrolled to the next tune. Brought it back to life and played fine. Didn't have to unplugged or reboot it.
