Well, I got the bad news today. Dealer disassembled the engine and found the cam chain tensioners failed and has put metal debris throughout the engine. They will need to completely rebuild the engine. They said the metal debris damaged most of the moving parts in the engine...

This reads more like damage resulting from a failed tappet roller bearing than the nylon material from a cam chain tensioner shoe. Photos would be good if you can get them.  :2vrolijk_21:

BTW, any engine mods to the machine?

Stopped by the dealer today and talked to the manager. Found out the reason the tensioner failed. He said the crankshaft has excessive runout and caused premature wear to the tensioner. All parts came in yesterday. They may have it back together by Friday.
Only upgrades are x-pipe and SERT.

Update on engine repairs. Engine is complete. Dealer road tested Friday, Saturday and Monday. Still not running correctly after all the repairs. Now have a new fuel pump on order. Starting to wonder what is really going on.

Not at all sure how crank runout can cause tensioner wear...

Do you know what parts were replaced on your motor?

Dealer said excessive crank runout caused tensioner to move in and out and cause excessive wear on the shoe. They replaced the crankshaft assembly, all bearings, cams, lifters, oil pump and cam support plate, both pistons and cylinders, both chains and tensioners. Pretty much all moving parts in the engine.

Well I finally got my bike back. Seems to run out pretty good.  Cranks a little hard when 1st starting. I'll give it a few days to see if it gets better. Also now have a nice dent in the front fender. Dealer is suppose to take care of it.
