Cobra vs V&H
« on: July 19, 2012, 02:40:17 PM »

Ok, last piece of the puzzle to be purchased for this summer is exhaust headers. My SEEG2 has factory head pipes and I just added Rinehart slip ons. I'd like some opinions on quality, ease of installation and effectiveness of the two choices I've narrowed it down to. Cobra True Dual headers or V&H Dresser Duals. I see a lot of comparisons and discussion regarding '12 models but not much on the older (2005) bikes.

FYI - I'll be adding a K&N filter and the SERT along with the new head pipes.

I have a set of Cobra true duals. I have not installed them yet because I have not gotten set up for a tune. Some of the "duals" out there are not really duals, just dual outlets. The Cobras look pretty good and have a balance tube between the pipes similar to the H pipe you see on performance car exhaust. I liked that because of the difference in pipe length between the front and rear cylinders. As for getting performance numbers for Cobra, any employees that I could talk to are clueless, thus my need for a dyno tune to see if they help or hurt performance. Parts, welds, chrome, etc. look good though.

I put the V&H Dresser Duals on my ride - very pleased with the performance and it is much cooler now that the cat is gone!  Tuned with TTS tuner and runs like a champ!

I haven't noticed a balance tube or cross tube in any of the photos or literature from Cobra. Here is a link to the ones I am considering.
