After 11 plus years with my 01 SERG it left my driveway this afternoon for the last time. 

No I wasn't looking to sell it, I just received an offer on an 11 year old motorcycle that I thought probably wouldn't come along again. While I will miss that bike I look forward to shopping for a new one. The new bikes are something all together different for me. I can't tell you how many threads I've read over the last week and a half on this site trying to familiarize myself just a little with the 09 and up bikes.

What to purchase??.... It will be another Screamin' Eagle Road Glide. Next to the 2001's the 2009's would be my second favorite bike. With that said used 09's are not that far off from a new 2012 Custom price wise so I started looking at the 12's. I found four with very little effort scattered around the US in the "Skunk" version. At first I didn't want another black wheel/powder coated bike as I've "Been there done that". Then I remind myself of where I live and how chrome is evil and it WILL pit or bubble in a matter of time regardless of how much wax I put on it. I stopped by my preferred dealer to see my bud/salesman and as I was already thinking he suggested I wait for the 13's. Like he said, I have four other bikes I can ride while waiting (But they are not my SERG!). If the 13's end up being something I don't care for or just don't end up making the CVO cut then I'll look into finding a 12. From there I don't know if I would pass up "The deal" on an ORANGE 09 with low miles, extended warranty, tons of bolt on goodies and at a great price.

Thank you. I'm hoping a new bike gets me back in the saddle more. I've hardly been out over the last two years. I've loogged more miles on my legs running and cycling then I did on the bikes.

The new bikes are pretty nice "As is".

I'd like a 21" front wheel and real extended saddle bags. I don't know if the new CVO's are bag extensions or are they real extended bags. It sounds like they could use more radio from what I've been reading, although I wear headphones anyway....

I have to say, I always liked your bike and watching the changes you made in the saddlebags, carb, etc.  I have wondered if your bike was the model for the 09's.  I am sure that you had some influence.  Good luck on the next one.

It's been awhile since I've waited for the new bikes to be released so it will be interesting for me this year. There aren't any CVO's at my preferred dealership so I can't go and look at one and think about what I want to do, I have to wait!

You didn't give the poor guy the linkage - it not like you would have a hard time finding one

I replaced it with a nice new chrome screamin eagle linkage.

What did you have on the RG, one of the originals? They weren't as shiny

Yes I had one of the original 5. 

I sold the bike sans the 3 items I removed... camera, DVD player and all.

I have a handfull of OEM SERG parts I need to dig out of the attic and post for sale (saddlebags and lids, Shark fin slip-ons...)
