SE heavy Breather question (50mm adapter)
« on: July 21, 2012, 11:36:23 AM »

2011 SESG -  Can someone tell me the reason for the 50mm adapter. I know the throttle body is a 50 mm.   When installing do you have to use the 50 mm adapter or can you just leave it out. It looks like you would have better air flow with it left out.

I would suggest following the directions and installing the adapter.  If it really wasn't necessary or beneficial, they most likely wouldn't have wasted money putting it in the kit.  Leaving it out is highly unlikely to increase flow through the 50mm TB, and the turbulence created by that sudden 58mm to 50mm transistion without it might actually reduce flow.  Without real flow data indicating otherwise, I think it makes sense to stick with what the engineers recommend in the instructions for the kit.

I just installed the SE Heavy Breather, I think the the breather is 58 mm, installing the adapter will make it 50 mm, which Harley Davidson said my bike has for the induction port. it's installed now..

I would follow the instructions and put it in...
