So Mylo, aka. the rubber spring found himself a friend, well he killed it but not before he got sprayed, the house got sprayed V8 didn't do the job.....Peroxide, baking soda and viniger worked about as well.  Anyone have any qlue how to get rid of the stink?

Skunk spray is oil based, need to cut the grease, use dawn dishwashing liquid or wisk

It's been a long time since I've delt with the skunk smell.

Beginning Spring i ran over a skunk driving my company assigned vehicle. When i hit him he somehow got lodged up between the grill and radiator. I guess he had enough strength to 'let go' with his savory perfume because my poor Explorer was smelling pretty bad.  Someone at work told me go to Auto Zone and pick up a gallon of Purple Power Cleaner to get rid of smell. Well i followed advice, got a large Bug Sprayer and mixed the cleaner  (80%cleaner, 20% water)  and sprayed the hell out of the area where the skunk was lodged, let it soak for 15 mins and rinsed off with water.  It worked great,,  Skunk smell was completely gone..   A gallon of the Purple cleaner was $15...  Good stuff to have around.

I got sprayed close up years ago by a big one in the dark. Three or four large cans of regular tomato juice in the bath tub got it off me. Shirt didn't recover. The smell is gut wrenching when its on you. Had to sleep outside that night.

Mylo is used to sleeping on the bed with Snoozie and I,   Didn't happen last night! I think he will kill the next skunk before he get's sprayed again!!!!!   (I HOPE).  Holy crap, you can't explain the extent of the smell..

I feel for you guys and you are right. Much worse than just driving by one dead on the road. Had one under our house once and the dogs kept barking at it and it would retaliate with a spray after a few days of that I was glad he finally moved on. WHEW!!!!
P.S. if you are having trouble getting rid of the smell you can rent an Ozinator but you will have to leave the house while it is in operation. Used one once to rid an office of bad cat pizz smell. Took a couple of 12hour runs but it workded and the unit has a timer to set. When you come back you need to open the house for a bit as it sucks all the air out. Hope you get relief soon.

Yep, I was 18 and pulled in late on night on my bike and shut it off as I came in the driveway (loudpipe). I got off the bike and he turned right in front of me and sprayed me at the same time I realized SKUNK, TO LATE. Tried to sneek upstairs to my bedroom and my dad made me sleep outside. At least he went to the store and bought the tomato juice for me. Good thing I could have cleared out the store.

Clean sprayed-on area with Oxi-Magic (Clorox product no-bleach), or oxi-clean, or oxi-boost mixture. Mix one scoop per two gallons of warm water with Dawn dishsoap.  (The Oxi is supposed to change the chemical structure of the SULPHER making it odorless)

Put the mixture directly on, don't wet the area with water first.

Rent a carpet/upholstery cleaning machine with a de-sudser additive if it's on the carpet and furniture.

My Bitch took a shot right to the face late one night. Wouldn't let her in the house until I bathed her in the oxi-cleaner and it worked pretty good for removing the smell.

(Recommended in a university (Oklahoma I think) study.)
