Exhaust baffles
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:05:25 AM »

I am waiting on a TTS tuner from Full-sac that should be end early in August.  I am headed to Sturgis and wonder if I can remove the baffles for the trip to wake up the sound a little as the tuner won't be in until I get back.  Is this a problem from a performance point of view?  I have been patiently waiting for two months for the tuner but would like a little more sound until I get it all done?  Feedback?  Thanks!

I went ahead and ordered the baffles from Full-Sac, just waiting on the headers until the programmer is out. sound is much better. I went the 2.25" quiet ones, and they aren't quiet, now I wonder how much louder the loud ones are :)

2.25" are their loudest. The 1.75" are the quiet ones.

Steve has purchased a new louver machine (from New Zealand? I think?)
He has been playing with different lengths, patterns, etc of louvers on the dyno. He has a stack of "rejects" laying on the bench.
Give him a call to see what works for YOUR particular needs: power? sound? fit? etc etc.
I'm sure he will be able to give  you more details. Just be patient for a return call......it's worth the wait to hear from the horse's mouth (sorry, Steve)
JMNO, of course.

Removing the baffles will make your AFR much leaner than it is now....a trip to Sturgis could very well cause engine damage.

They actually have 2 versions of the 2.25" look on the web site.
I have the quieter version.

I have Fullsac 2.25 baffles coming.  Talked to Steve and he indicated no problem replacing stock baffles with new full sac 2.25's and running like that until the tuner and x-pipe comes in?  Will leave catalytic converter in as well.  Is this going to be a problem?  Steve at Full Sac was pretty confident I shouldn't have an issue for the trip with the 2.25's?

I think I read it wrong also.  I think people read your post as removing the baffles all together.  basicly strait pipes with cats.  with the 2.25 it would be like having slip ons.

I don't think it's a good idea either.   Best to leave it stock and make all the changes and upgrades together.  Why take a chance and ruin that engine...  Changing the cores will make it run much leaner.  That engine didinitely runs hot enough.   Your bike,,,  I wouldn't do it.  :nixweiss:

I read it the same way.  Adding slip ons or changing the baffles is not a big deal.

Seems to be a difference of opinion.  The slip-ons are CVO factory exhausts that had Fullsac cores installed at the dealer.  Are they safe to run in place of the factory exhaust until the TTS tuners come in?

Yes, I am putting my fullsac baffles in my bike today. I talked to Steve on the phone and via email and was assured that no problems will arise. The computer in the bike will accept the change without a problem. That is no major change because you still have your cat in it becomes a problem when you change exhaust or pull out cat you will be fine. Have fun :2vrolijk_21:

You should be OK with this since the header pipe is not being changed.  The ECM can adapt to small changes like slip-ons.
