Rear shifter removal
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:21:20 PM »

Is there something to cover the shifter shaft if you take off the rear shift lever?

I too removed the heal shifter....I don't know how guys with big feet even fit in there. And you'll end up with a mint spare if you ever need it.

I used a spacer that goes between the shifter and the primary.  It keeps the shifter to the outside.   I like that better. Got mine from baker customs.   With the extended toe shifter.  :2vrolijk_21:

I make mine, easy to do.
Get some round stock of your choice. Aluminum will polish easy and look really cool.
Or steel and paint.
Cut to the same as the shifter is wide, drill, install.

just a thought

Thanks for all the advice.  I bought the HD piece.  It was only $16.  I think it is the cheapest thing I've ever bought for this bike.

Maybe not yer cup of tea but I purchased a longer shift lever and it sits just passed the floorboard at the rear. I also ajusted it so you barely have to lift your heel, and I got BIG feet.

If  you like I can get ya picture if you are interested.

Heel shifter removed, toe shifter moved to the outside, longer spacer with wave washer (anti rattle) installed.

Chrome spacer for dual shifters.

That wave wassher is a good idea.  Where did youn get inner spacer?

Also, My bike was idling the other day.  Heard a rattle, finally grabbed the inner shift lever that connects to the front of the linkage.  Rattle stopped.  How do I fix this?  Thanks

Use a wave washer behind the OEM spacer.
