What about this Global Warming thing?
« on: July 28, 2012, 03:28:23 PM »

Forecast for Russellville Arkansas, today sunny and 108 degrees. Tomorrow sunny and 108 degrees
Monday sunny and 109 degrees. We are burnin up around here. Until a week ago we had not had
rain in 3 months.

Talked to my sister in Colorado Springs Colorado and she said all the older homes don't even have
air conditioning in them but they are putting air conditioning in newer homes because it is getting hotter now
than it used to in the summers. She said it had gotten into the lower 90's there lately.

If this keeps up, before long we won't even be able to go outside!! What is the real reason
behind this?

Natural cycles and climate variation. The climate has never been static and never will be.

Thanks for the reply. Also seems the seasons have shifted about a month later
into the year. We used to have fall weather in September now we don't get
fall until October.

Also love the paint set on your bike. Really stands out in a crowd.

Mark, it's a secret so don't tell anyone I told you this.  But (looking both ways to see who is watching); it's a conspiracy.  The failing print media believes that if the weather forecasts get so scary people will have no choice but to read them.  Broadcast media hopes you'll watch them.  But we all know we can get more accurate and more current weather on our phones.

From the days they were king, however, the newpaper barons and multinational electronic media moguls have the international thermostat hidden away in a secret bunker in Brussels (under a manhole cover marked A6 at the west end of Leopold Park right across from the European Parliament).  They keep slowly turning that son of a bitch up, little by little, so we'll have to watch and read the weather newscasts.  Unbalanced flies over in a super secret long range black stealth helicopter (call sign: Puddle Jumper) to gently bump it up once every six months.  Except for the trips when he forgets to bring the instructions.

Gee, thanks for teasing me with weather reports from home Greg. You don't wanna know the weather where I am. If the temps don't get to you the winds and sand storms will.

It's not Global Warming...it should never have been called that in the first place.  It's CLIMATE CHANGE.  If you believe National Geographic Magazine is a reliable source of information, look at this:  http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/12/1206_041206_global_warming.html

Or, you can read articles on the subject published by NOAA, NASA, and more recently, BEST (which was partially funded by the Kock Brothers because the primary of the research study was one of the greatest skeptics...if you don't know who they are, just Google it).

Of course, some people are not going to believe the Science until they have sea water in their beach front home's living room.

There are natural cycles of climate change, but the RATE of change has increased with increased human activity on the planet, so draw whatever conclusions you choose from the overwhelming evidence that the chit is going to hit the fan in a big way within the next 100 years or so.

I grew up in the Mojave Desert and as kids, what better thing do do in the summer then explore the good ole'  desert sands..  There are many areas in the Deserts, including Death Valley, where you will find ancient seashells and sea reef..   Every once in awhile one can get lucky and find an ancient starfish..  I used to have a collection of oll this stuff picked right of the desert floor.. In fact there are mountain ranges right along Highway 395 where you can see water levels imbedded in the mountain rock.  Ever ask yourself' what the hay is all this stuff doing on the desert floors???  The whole desert at one time was a Sea..  If you are ever bored,, Google it..  you learn quickly it's all because of CLIMATE CHANGES AND cycles this world goes through during it's long life..      When I hear people crying Global Warming,, i feel like sticken their head in the sand..     :'(

I'll believe in all this global warming stuff when there are no posts on this site in January about how cold, too much snow, and I put my bike up for the winter.
Until then I blame it all on dOOd. ;) ;)

Global warming, climate change, what ever you want to call it ,it is getting almost to hot to ride
a that sucks big time!!
Climate change is probably a better phrase to use, but it sure seems like the entire globe is getting
hotter.

I think when the chit hits the fan  we will not be able to live above ground much less be able to ride
our iron horses.
