110 logo riveted over 103 scribed logo?
« on: August 15, 2006, 04:35:33 PM »

 :-?

So - yet have I had a chance to see one of the new 110 engines in person (busy at work and riding) but I have to ask those of you that have seen the 110 CVO engines...

Is it just me or does it appear/is it so (at least in the pictures that I have seen so far) that the 110 moniker is rivited over the 103 moniker that is scribed into the jugs of said engine?

The one that I have seen does have the 110 badge riveted onto the head. They would have had to grind the 103 script down though because the 110 badge does sit semi flush.

Not that I disagree with you, but would it be possible to get a close up picture of it so we could all see what it looks like. Been some controversy over what/if this is/isn't riveted, could put our inquiring minds at ease.

Unfortunately, there ARE riveted steel "110" labels on both cylinder heads on the right side on both sides (front and rear) of the stock air cleaner.  Kind of tackly looking if you really look at it up close, but not not that noticeable unless you are in fine-toothed-comb mode!

I find this actually exciting cause it makes me think perhaps boring our cylinders out and placing some larger pistons (with appropriate cam, etc.) can get us 103 folks to 110 if ever the need arises...  [smiley=drink.gif]

I saw a blue '07 Road King CVO at the Charleston, SC, dealer yesterday while I was there having the voltage regulator replaced on my 'melon with a black one (yuk) 'cause they did not have a chrome one in stock and I'd have lost a day or two waiting on it.

Anyway, the 110 labels looked to me like there were screwed into the head.  Did not appear to be a rivet.

By the way the blue looked awesome.  Is it the same as the blue Ultra?  I have a pix somewhere that I'll post as soon as I can find it.

The rivitted on engine displacement sign is so next year when the displacement goes to 111 inches, they don't have to work so hard!   8-) :P [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]-Steve

No matter how the metal cover is attached (riveted, screwed, glued or whatever), it ain't tattoed by a CASTING like it shoud have been!?!?!

Like I said, you do have to REALLY be looking for this to notice it.

At least we know now there is no 103 under the plate like I thought also.  Like everyone else has said, it is cheap looking for their highest dollar bike.  Thanks for taking the plate off and looking and clearing it up fellows.
