Passenger foot rest chrome fell off
« on: August 08, 2012, 01:18:59 PM »

2012 Ultra, cleaning bike up after a ride and noticed chrome insert on riders foot rest was gone. Can you replace just that piece or do you have to replace tho whole insert?

I assume you're talking about the little nameplate that is adhered to the actual footrest insert.  If that's the case, the parts catalog does not call that nameplate out as a separate item.  And the full insert is priced at about $127 MSRP.

This should be covered under warranty (unless you damaged the footrest insert in some way).  Let your dealer worry about whether he can get a simple nameplate or has to order the whole insert.

I doubt they service just the chrome piece, especially, if the parts catalog does not have a part number for it and only the complete insert.

Seems like soon, the world will be littered with tank emblems, rear fender cloisonnes and now footboard chrome from our '12 SEUCs. :-\

Now you know why Harley doesn't really promote itself as a "green" company.  All those parts littering our highways and byways are far from "green".

Methinks Harley and it's Chinese vendors need to revisit their processes related to adhesive mounting of parts.  Maybe it's time to go back to screws?

Went to dealer, said it was covered under warranty, ordered new one and installed it a few days later!
