Race tuner needed ?
« on: August 16, 2006, 08:27:39 PM »

The moderator may move this but....I have conflicting advice...do I NEED a race tuner for my 05 SEEG?  I have the stage I kit added with Screamin Eagle pipes.  Is the race tuner REQUIRED or is it just if I more more HP??
Flyingwillie (newbie)...forgive me if I made mistakes !!!!

Flyingwillie,
Welcome to the site, glad to have you. In regards to the SERT it would be to your best interest to get that or the Power Commander. Personally I use the SERT as Hubbard does and I

Flyingwillie, [size=14]WELCOME[/size] to a great site!
I've been going through the same thing and my bike goes in for a Dyno tune this Saturday.  I changed air cleaner, put on SE mufflers and had the dealer do the 'flash' to the ECM. Didn't do much.  $160 wasted. So now I've loaded the Race Tuner (SERT) and played with it.  I've got 'jerk and surge' problems from 1900 to 2400 rpm.  Adjusting the fuel in that range didn't help. (I don't really know what I'm doing.)  [smiley=dunce2.gif]  So I'll see what the Dyno guy can do.
Anyway, WELCOME!  Stick around and have some fun! :D  Ask more questions so I won't have to!

Hey welcome, good choice with the SERT.  I let these fine folks talk me into a SERT for both my 05 SEEG and my wifes 06 SEVROD and we couldnt be happier.  Good luck enjoy and ride safe

Welcome Willie to the site.  You have found a great bunch of people.  I have the SE air cleaner, std cartridge download for the 03-05 103's, stock mufflers and couldn't be happier for the way it runs.  It starts/runs cold or hot with no jerking or decel pop.  As the others have said, a SERT and dyno tune will get you the most out of your bike.  With your pipes and air cleaner, you at least need the std download to richen it up.  This is coming from the lowest performing rider here, so take it for what it's worth.  Spending other people's money is a priority around here.  You'll find things that people have done to their bikes on this forum that most of us didn't know existed.  Good luck.

Garznhogs, I'd love to get a copy of your map when you get it corrected.  I have a problem around 1750 to below 2000 rpm and adjusting the feul has not eliminated it.  I have a few maps from a member of this site that I will try.  I'd love to see what fixed your problem to compare it to mine.  Maybe you could email me the map?

Nice scooter, Willie!! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

The very least you have to do is the ECM download for your setup.  I have the same setup on my 06 CUSE and have been perfectly happy with the way everything runs, no SERT or PCM required or needed with what I've got, just the flash.

But, if you ever plan on changing anything else on the motor or exhaust, you will need to get the item the others have mentioned, and the SERT's are getting hard to find.
