She's done (for now)
« on: August 11, 2012, 11:55:33 PM »

After a couple of weeks of wrenchin', cussin' and sweatin'.....everything was wrapped up last Wednesday and dropped off at the dealership for tuning. I picked her up today and all I can say is DAMN!!! I just love this bike! It's loud, rude, fast and gooooooooood lookin'!

SERT. I bought one off Ebay and it turned out to be dead so I had to buy a new one from the dealer. Now I get to go back to the dude that guaranteed that the first one had never been used.

Well what did you do to the bike and what did she produce on the dyno?

Installed V&H true dual headers, Rinehart mufflers, stage 1 air kit and had dealer tune it with new SERT. No dyno yet because I have a free dyno run coming up at a rally the end of Sept. I'll have to wait until then to get the numbers. I did find out that she has the SE-259 cams already in her. That was a big plus. I just don't understand why the previous owner did the cams and nothing else.  ???

Wondering now if I went too far. Today is the first chance I've had to ride in town after installing the pipes, air kit and getting the tuning done. Torque is noticeably better in the low range and I have no problem with the loudness of the pipes. And it is damn loud. But the constant backfiring is annoying. Does everyone else experience this after the afore-mentioned mods?

If you are getting backfires and/or popping it isn't tuned right.

What type of tuner do you have?

She is lean and needs a tune to get her right

Just picked it up Saturday from the dealer after buying a SERT and paying to have it tuned. Maybe they didn't do such a good job?

Just to clarify, did you have the bike tuned on their dyno? I'm wondering why you were not given a dyno sheet if you did?

That was what I was wondering about.  I'm guessing they just did a canned flash.  The Rineharts can be tough to totally eliminate the decel pop, but it shouldn't be constant.

No dyno tune this time. I have a dyno run scheduled for next month at the BBBQ Rally so I thought a basic tune would be fine for now. Just to clarify, the popping is only on decel as Sundog mentioned. No popping at idel or cruise speed. But the popping during decel will quickly turn into full blown backfires if I don't pull in the clutch. A few bangs have been loud enough that they scared the hell out of car driver beside me.

No tuning, just a dyno run. It was a free promotional thing I got with my Rinehart's. I can't remember the company name. I just saw them at Pig Trail Harley during the HOG rally and talked to their dyno guy. It's nothing more than a bragging slip really but I thought it would be interesting to see what she pulls now then compare it to what Pig Trail or Old Fort comes up with.

We're going to be at Road Hogs Park from Wednesday afternoon until Sunday during BBBQ. PM me if you want to get together up there. We ride to Eureka Springs that Friday morning if you're interested.
