Broken Handlebars
« on: August 12, 2012, 08:00:35 AM »

Help!! I have a 2004 Screamin Eagle ElectraGlide.  Handlebars broke in half.  I have taken bike apart to change them out.  I would like to buy new ones from Wild 1 but do not want 575's because I do not want to buy new cables.  Is there a standard handlebar by Wild 1 that I can use that does not require changing any cables.  I would appreciate any help and model number.  This is my first post as I am new on this forum.
Thanks for any help...

I had the same happens to my 04.    I went with the 575s and they are great bars.  You will have to buy new brake and clutch lines.   They didn't give us any extra slack in those days. The wiring did work out. But I had to relocate the plug on one side.   It didn't reach the faring support where it would normally go.  That was no big deal tho. Bars are great once you get them on.    Stuart

Mine just cracked by one of the clamps.  Ever see how cheap and thin the metal on those bars are??  Like  nothing. Think they came off a kids tricycle.  :nixweiss:

The hole in the center to allow for internal wiring to exit is a weak point. Moco changed to one piece clamp to strengthen this area a while back.  And if you tie it down using the bars this adds stress.

Check out the Khromeworks +2 Sweepers.  No need to change cables or wiring.  Whatever you put on, go with the one piece clamp.
