Check out this Harley with twin pulse jet engines.....I heard he sold it for around $25k.  Starts up using compressed air then lets the rapidly expanding gases of combustions take over.....hope the link works...

Hell, they're air-cooled, so maybe H-D should look at producing these. Maddox's design is nothing new--in WW2, the Germans used an Argus pulse jet to power the V-1 Flying Bomb, which hit nearly 500 mph. The design work on the engine clarifies the ideas behind running tuned pipes.
