H-D USPS Postage Stamps
« on: August 19, 2006, 04:18:29 PM »

The USPS has released a series of four American motorcycles postage stamps. The stamps were released in Sturgis during the rally as well as in Harleyville, SC. Here's the announcement on the USPS website.
American Motorcycles
In early August, during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, SD, the role of motorcycles in American culture will be recognized on four "American Motorcycles" stamps featuring digital illustrations of a 1918 Cleveland, a 1940 Indian Four, a 1965 Harley-Davidson Electra-Glide, and a circa 1970 chopper. The Cleveland, Indian and Harley-Davidson stamps are based on motorcycles in existence today. The circa 1970 chopper featured on the stamp was created by stamp artist Steve Buchanan in consultation with professional chopper builders. Although lacking various safety features such as mirrors and turn signals that are usually required under today's laws, this chopper would have been street-legal in 1970.

The USPS (an offical Office of the Gov't) has proclaimed that the goldwing is NOT a motorcycle  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
At least not worthy of a stamp  [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

Ezrider4, how many of the stamps do you need on your fender to get your bike delivered to the Motel 6 in Rapid City?

EZ, you need to go out and find a Cleaveland Forum and an Indian Forum and post information where folks can go to buy the stamps that you didn't take.

I've been to three post offices and they are all sold out.  I'll keep looking but these are going FAST.

Jock, if you buy a lot of stamps at least take a look at Pitney Bowes for renting a postage machine.  Never having to think about stamps again and not wasting trips to the post office when you've found you run out is pretty handy.  They've got machines that are small and pretty cheap.
