The second day in Myrtle my BSR tells me she hears a noise each time we hit a bump. I can't hear it with her behind me. When we arrive back at the hotel I notice the gap between the fender and my bag is off. I pull the bag to find that a saddlebag support broke and that my compressor mount is hanging down. A quick trip to the HD dealership to pay full retail for a set of bag supports that I have several of in the attic as well as I would have just welded this one had I been at home.... oh well we were good to go. We laughed a little as it was the stock stuff that gave us trouble.

Stopped the first night on our way home. We took 17 from Myrtle just about into Virginia. Nice ride that took forever....

When we got up the next morning there were storms rolling in from the west so we just blasted up Rt95 home. Momma didn't like that. The cars all around us made her uncomfortable. I believe we totaled 1717 miles. That was her first road trip and after a few days off of the bike she said she'd do it again.

The opportunity came up for me to pull the 26" off of the bike. So starts the next phase of this bikes life.

One of the things I'm changing is the stereo. While the current stereo is very clear and loud it is believed I can do better.

I am going to use a set of triple 6.5" lids. I will only be using two 6.6" mid bass speakers and one 4" tweeter.

This was the pile of dust from opening up the lid holes so the speakers has room to move.

The new wheel. I have had four different Agitators on this bike so far and this by far is the sexiest wheel I've owned. The spokes and hub are contoured adding to the look.

I'm told I will have to move the ignition with the additional rake. As of right now I'm going to go with a Softail style ignition.

After a week at Scout camp with my sons than returning home to catch a summer cold I'm back to working on the bike again.

Here I'm setting my clearance. Close is close however with the stops in place that is as close as it will get... hopefully.

I picked up some material from McMaster Carr that needed to be turned down inside and outside.

This is the external stop assembly. The rubber prevents the metal on metal thump and allows for a soft landing when the air is dumped from the front end.

Measuring my travel. I have a full three inches of travel. Without looking back at my notes that is a little less than I had with my 26". I could gain more travel with longer fork tubes if I find that I need more.

The mounting of the tire. This proved to be a little more difficult than I had expected. A Youtube video helped me lol. My tire machine will take up to a 36" rim and a 38" tall tire. I use the machine more to hold the wheel than anything else as I still work the tire on the rim by hand (I'm not willing to try the machine and chance damaging the wheel).
