CVO Intro @ Sturgis
« on: August 19, 2006, 09:11:45 PM »

Did anyone else attend the HD CVO event at Rapid City? I was pretty impressed with the whole deal. Got some warranty questions answered after the "unveiling", EVERYONE was very helpful, and Willie G and his wife were very pleasant.
Anyone who has a chance should attend next year, very nice deal. Those of you who made fun of it last month on this site, you missed a well planned event. Your Loss.

Yea....you bet...I took a buddy that sells Harley at North Texas HD and he was impressed and he gets to go to these a lot. Thought Willie G was very cordial and willing to chat as time permitted. Membership does have it's privlideges<<<<Next year let's get a list of everyone and hook up somewhere. I would have liked to have met you all that attended>>> Yes I agreed it was a first class well planned event..I'll be back next year Greg

P.S....The breakfast was pretty damn good also>>>>>

I walked around to each table at breakfast and gave each person a business card for this site.....that was about half an hour after the doors opened.  I also put cards on many of the CVO in the parking lot and on them all over the Sturgis and surrounding areas.  A bunch of us from this site were gathered around the SEUC when they let us in there.

It was a nice little deal......I really appreciated it since it wasn't crowded and we had the time to talk with the reps and stuff.

I agree totally that it was a very nice event. I appreciated the recognition H-D gave us as owners. Having a chance to meet and talk with Motor Company execs and the CVO team meant a lot to me. My only complaint would be that they were too liberal about admission. They literally let anybody who walked up to the registration table with an owner gain admission. Half the parking lot was full of non-CVO bikes. There were even several Gold Wings as well as numerous other metrics. I realize CVO owners don't always ride their CVO but tightening the admission rules would make me feel a little more like they tailored the event just for us. Maybe everybody going in needs to show a "gold key."

From HD's Point of view letting more people let's more NON-CVO folks see what they are about and maybe getting them to buy one. After it is a business.

Do you mind sharing what kind of "warranty" questions were answered?  There has been discussion about restricting mods to the '07 CVOs and I'm just wondering if it was addressed.

Thanks!

One of those non CVO bikes was my wifes street glide. Each member was allowed one guest to enter with them. I liked the way that they let us into the hall for a few hours to talk to engineers and designers before they let the public in. Membership does have some privledges.

I was there, surprised at how small the crowd was for the really nice event.  It started with a nice light breakfast, then the intro in the auditorium.  The packet they handed out had the 110 pin and orange rubber bracelet for the event.  You also had lunch tix for the drag races if you wanted to go to the drags in Sturgis that day.

All in all, a very nice event for the customers.  Should have been there if you were at Sturgis.....

Brad

Also, did you get a chance to demo the new 110?  I did, wow....

My take on the CVO event is that the owners of the CVO bikes are not as happy with them now as when they bought them new. The malority of the CVO owners that live close to me, that I have talked to would not buy another CVO bike. Harley put on this event for their benefit.
The new 110 is how, in my opinion, it should have been done in the first place. The 110 motor is powerful. I know that most of us, if we owned one, would have to increase the power some how, but right out of the box it is pretty darn powerful.

Every CVO owner was allowed one guest.  I saw them turn a couple guys away because the CVO Owner that they were with already had a guest. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  I'd not have attended if Terrie couldn't have got in with me, just because she doesn't ride a CVO.

I came away very impressed with the H-D CVO representatives, not only at the Civic Center, but at the drag strip, too.  Even though it was not CVO-specific, I kind of went off (I apologized for my rude behavior before lunch) about how archaic H-D brakes are and the need to get ABS developed and installed.  Hell, it's 2007 (almost).  I've put 112K miles on a bike with ABS and know of 2 times that I would have been killed if not for the superior brake system.  The very cool part about this story was that there were representatives on hand listening to our comments.  After only a few minutes with these folks, I could tell they were very proud of the product they designed and produced.  It was a feel-good time at the old drag strip.

Lunch was pretty damn good, too.  That rain and hail on the way back to Deadwood was a bitch, though.
