Has anyone installed Saddlebag Speakers on their 2012
« on: August 30, 2012, 10:32:02 AM »

I just realized similar post in electronics section.  Sorry.

Hi everyone,

I was thinking of doing the CVO Saddlebag Speakers and now realize that it requires new painted lids in addition to the $1,000.00 speakers.  Has anyone done this upgrade and what are your thoughts.   I know Kuryakyn & Kicker have an all in one product but I am not sure Harley would do the paint on someone else's product.  I suppose I could find someone to match the paint, but then again if I am going to be a purist I probably want Harley parts on a CVO (who knows).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.   Is it a noticeable difference?

I think this is the product below

"CVO™ Saddlebag Speaker Expansion Kit

This kit includes all the audio components required to equip your '11 FLHXSE2 and '12 FLTRXSE models with the added volume and deeper bass provided by saddlebag lid-mounted speakers. Kit includes the 100 watt/channel saddlebag-mounted amplifier and a pair of waterproof 5"x7" saddlebag lid speakers that are perfectly matched to the Original Equipment fairing and fairing lower mounted speakers. The kit also includes speaker grills, mounting baskets, wiring harness, and all installation hardware. All you need to add are color-matched saddlebag lids (sold separately).

SDCVO:  Sent you a pm.  I have questions!
Happy to post them in here if others care..

Basically just looking for a bit more "layman" info.  I can't really decipher what you did by looking at the parts list.

It appears you added amp and swapped speakers only?  I hope so!

Sounds like you are very pleased and did not have to do speakers in the lids?

Is the amp(s) in the bags?

Just looking for more detail!  And a few pics!

I am not all that far from you (2 hours).  Maybe I can hear yours and use the same shop when Im ready!

Thanks!

My wife can now hear the radio.  When she's not with me, I can hear it a little, though it's not overwhelming by any means.

2nd Amps in the bag.

I have.  Exceeds expectations. Mic on ipad couldn't handle the volume which is why you hear that high pitch scratching sound. More bass and crystal clear in person. Probably will sound even better with a higher quality song file.
