He's home just now... feeding the dogs while wifey's away out of the country...

I'll let him chime in and toot his horn. Would hate to take away his thunder.  :D

Wiz - you're nothing if not a gentleman... and a very generous gentleman, at that!

Hey Howard! So ya eat Honey Badgers, ya say? :nervous: Hmmm... maybe so... but you don't live in these parts!!!

Well anyway... I rode over to Wiz' garage today, put the HB up on the lift, and installed the Energy One extra clutch plate kit. This kit comes with its own clutch spring that is about what an SE spring is - but I used the big fat 480 lb spring I already had in the clutch for maximum holding power. And topped it all off with the ClutchWiz... needless to say.  I'm very happy to report NO CLUTCH SLIPPAGE AT ALL with the extra plate in the clutch! Used to be (even with the 480 lb spring) I would get significant spinning when I really got on it - especially in 1st gear right off the line... but now the clutch GRABS TIGHT and GOES - even in full-throttle speed-shifting!

SO... I'm a very happy camper now!  :bananarock:  :2vrolijk_21:   Time for a :drink:

Bragger...

Now I need to straighten out your tune.

Yes, you DO! It's become quite a mess... let me know your next opening, Wiz...

And THANKS AGAIN for your continuing patience with me and the Honey Badger... the Never-Ending Project Bike! At least the wifey has figured to stop asking "Are you DONE with it yet?"

There's a much better alternative to the VPC now - either AIM's or the H-D one - and it won't wear out in less than 10,000 miles with a lessening of the reduction in clutch pull lever effort, as I experienced with the AIM VPC 70T I had until recently on the Honey Badger.

Not commenting on the Wiz part at all.  Have no experience with them so have nothing on which to base a remark.  But am curious how many have had the problem described in so few miles with the VPC.  Have installed a few for others in bikes around me and did some of the maintenace on them thereafter.  It's not something I've seen.

I've seen it up close and in person. The pictures in this post in my Mods thread (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=66236.msg1070167#msg1070167) clearly show the premature wear on the AIM VP70T VPC that was in my bike for only 8,000 miles - where it contacts the twelve fingers of the clutch spring. It's worn out deeply in all 12 places. I suspect that the reason for this wear is that the AIM VPC is made of 6061 aluminum... whereas the ClutchWiz is made of much-harder 7075 aluminum. 7075 aluminum is a more expensive material - but it will not wear out nearly as quickly running against the extremely hard steel of the clutch spring as the softer 6061 aluminum will.

Perhaps with a stock non-CVO spring the VPC would not wear out as fast as mine did... who knows? But with the pink-labeled CVO spring in my clutch, it wore out in a hurry.
