FIRST JESTER WITH A WARRANTY CLAIM!
« on: August 21, 2006, 10:12:30 AM »

One week ago today, I took my B & O JESTER in for her 1000 mile service after 12 days of ownership, in preparation for a 900+ mile in(OUT)-law family reunion ride last weekend.  I told them that sometimes the clutch had to be REALLY tight up against the handlebar to shift, and that first gear was engaged about 1/4 inch off of the grip, and that maybe the bike could use a little clutch adjustment.

The next day, Tuesday the 15th, I called to make sure the work was completed, as my dealership is on the other side of Omaha, and they said that the Tech. agreed something was amiss with the clutch, and they had a call in to Harley Tech., and would like to keep the bike overnight.  I said fine and NO prob.

I checked in again Wednesday afternoon, and the Service Manager replied they still had not even heard from Harley Tech., so I called the dealership Owner and G.M. (both friends) and whined some, as I was supposed to leave on my bike for Hannibal, MO on Thursday at NOON.  They promptly replied that they would have a loaner bike ready for me to take on my trip IF they did not have my bike ready by noon on Thursday.

Thursday LATE AM I drove out to the Dealer and promptly saw THE JESTER leaving the dealership on a test ride, which was exciting, but to no avail.  The Lead Tech. and the Service Manager still felt something was not right, so I was given a 2006 Pearl White Ultra Classic w/ Six Speed to take on my trip and we left town thru yesterday (Sunday), and the ONLY good thing is that I now have 900+ less miles on my new bike then I would have!

Called the dealer this AM, and they informed me that the H-D Regional Service Rep. was in the area, and came and rode THE JESTER on Friday and authorized a complete teardown of her clutch with complete replacement if needed (how long with this take, parts availability, etc.!?!?!?!.

The Dealership owner told me to keep the loaner Ultra until THE JESTER is released from the Hospital, which was very good and proper customer service.

SO.................................................................................................

Has anybody else had any hydraulic clutch issues with their new 07's?

Keep an eye on this situation if you haven't.

AND, A BIG KUDOS to Dillon Bros. H-D in Omaha for doing the best they could under the circumstances for me, but it has already been a week and I MISS MY GIRL!!!

Sorry to hear about the problem with the clutch, but Oh So impressed with the service report.  Dillon Bros H-D in Omaha - Well Done!  I'd like this to become the trend for all HD shops.  Stand behind the customer when something goes bump in the night.  Not the shops fault, not the customer's fault, just a bump.  But giving you a great bike to ride in the interim while things are made right -------- Wow! I am impressed.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I too like to hear the good things those dealers do.  We are quick to call them stealers, but when they do the right thing, noone says anything.

I love being a Harley Nut. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  And 98% of my contact with all things Harly have been positive.  Wish I could say that about women!!! [smiley=sauer007.gif]

It's all love. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Being in the military in the past and spending 23 years in emergency services I'm used to that sick kind of love. Heck I've even gotten good at giving it back. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Hope everything works out w/your scooter, and you get her back soon.

CLK,
You just need to ride it some.  The clutch will loosen up after about 3500 miles.  I had the same problem with my 06.  You couldn't move the bike if it was in gear and the clutch was pulled in.  I had to be careful when starting it!  It's now much better, though I think by the time it gets to 10k, it should be perfect.  The dealer I bought my 06 from has had that problem in a couple of SE bikes.  They were told it's the clutch pack wearing off the high spots and seating in.  Enjoy the ride!!!
