Help me play mp3's in my player
« on: August 21, 2006, 11:06:08 PM »

I have tried two different cd's with mp3's on them in my 06 flhtcuse.  I have the latest radio update.  When I try the first cd the player will recognize 32 songs.  It will play them, and display the artist name.  The player ignores all of the other songs on the cd.  I tried a second time with another cd and this time the player recognizes 13 of the songs.  Plays them just fine, and then ignores all the rest of the songs.  What am I doing wrong?

Not trying to be a smart azz here, but are you 100% sure they are all .mp3 format files???  If you download music from iTunes or most other legal sites, the music is in .mp4 format and has to be burned to a music CD and then ripped back to .mp3 before you can play it.

I just wrestled with this problem a couple of late, late nights....not sure what you're doing, but I ripped songs to my library from my regular CD's, then converted them in Itunes to MP3 files, then burned the CD.  After a couple of f ups and wasted CDs, I finally got one with over 140 songs on it.  It was trial and error for me, but I must have done something right, cause it's working!

There's probably a better way to do it, but that's what worked for me.

These are old songs left over from years ago when Napster was going strong.  Under properties they are mpeg layer 3 audio files.

You might also try writing them to the disc at 8x...I know the update disc would not work unless written at that speed.

Funseeker, was listening to mp3's tonight while out riding with the missus and wondered if you'd been able to figure out your problem?
