Trailer Floor and ramp.
« on: September 08, 2012, 08:18:33 AM »

Have a new Legend Low Rider on order and the floor and ramp are coming with only wood floor because I did not know what I wanted on it if anything.  Walls and ceiling will be white vinyl.  Local trailer dealer suggested having the floor and ramp sprayed with a product such as Line X prior to installing chock, etc.  Stated it was nonslip and durable.  Has anyone else used this type of product for their floor and ramp?

I have the black "rubber tread plate" (RTP) flooring in mine and love it. It's on the ramp door as well with aluminum tread plate on the fold down flap part of the ramp.

I have used both Line-X and Rhino liner in the bed of my trucks.  Bikes do not slip on it.  Last new truck, before the liner was in I had to haul a bike, all most dropped it due to the front tire would not grip and slow the bike on the paint.  Liner sprayed in the next day.

I used marine grade carpet on the floor and used a 25 ft roll of 3M non slip tape on th door. Also used pop up tie downs and quick disconnect bolts and tee nuts on the chocks so when I get where I going I throw down a futon mattress for the night.

if your funds permit, i would go with the Lynx product.  i have it in my truck and just cant tear it up...  The material is also non-slip which makes it perfect for moving bikes of and off your ramp   :2vrolijk_21:

Might want to think about lining the undercarriage as well.

i coated mine with waterseal.  you should put somethng at least on the ramp, because sooner to later it will be raining when loading a bike.  i was going to rhine X mine but the dealer said he had to tap off the walls and ceiling.  prep was almost as much as the rhino.

I have used the Vortex spray in liners on all of my trailers. Very good product. And if you want something that will really stand out have Granitex done over it. Design and color choice unlimited.

I certainly agree about putting something down especially when wet.  Thanks for the picture it sure helps and looks awesome!  Delivery not expected until early Oct so lots of time to think about it.

I had a Legend 7X19 Vnose (std height) and loved it.  As fine a trailer as you can buy.  Regarding the floor, I put down indoor/outdoor carpet and just left the ramp plywood with the flip over end.  Would have liked to do someting nicer but didn't.  Congrats on a great trailer.

I used the can type and used a roller to apply. Did it in 2005 when the trailer was new and it has worked flawlessly. I caulked the base of the floor and went up the wall about 6 inches so I could hose it out from time to time. If I did it again, I would go a little higher.

I had my trailer Rhino Lined. Ramp, floor and 18" up the sides. The floor and ramp are 1/4" and the sides are 1/8".
All sprayed in one application for a seamless finish. Rhino on a wood surface requires a different prep. Besides sanding, the wood needed some type of pre-application coating and 24 hours to cure. No change in price.

Our local Rhino dealer charges by the square foot based on thickness.
It ain't cheap and it can be slippery when wet.
