new guy intro
« on: September 09, 2012, 12:39:44 PM »

Hello from IA.  I have a 2012 Street Glide in the Tequila Orange, traded my 2005 Fatboy LTD last September for it. I miss my fatty, but really enjoy the SG (no issues with the voltage regulator at 6,000 miles). I'm not much of a "gearhead", so local "motorcycle guru-(who is a really great guy)" mentioned this site for info. I have been reading some posts over the last week, and it he was right, seems like a lot of knowledgeable and honest group of guys to learn from. I'm not much of a computer guy either, so not sure how to post current upgrades on my info/icon but, I will work on it. My current plans are to upgrade the front wheel to a 21-inch or 19-inch wheel from Renegade (getting the a/c to match the front wheel as well; I was leaning towards the 21, but after reviewing some posts, gonna probably go with the 19-inch.  I stand 69-inches tall, and don't want to give up any seat to ground clearance. My Fatty had been lowered and had the sundowner seat, so the SG really takes some of my footing away. I still have plenty of solid footing, just not as much as with the Fatty.  Also, I don't want to get into the front end supension, 21-inch causing the front to rise up, if I go with the 19-inch, then no worries.  I'm leaving the rear wheel stock for now can't justify the $$$ to my better half :nixweiss:  I'm also looking into the TTS tuner, Woods 555, directional lifters, and the DnD boss but, (after reading some of the posts here) the Fullsac has gotten my attention too.  Problem here is-all the local HD shops around here only use Power Commander, and claim the TTS is no good, or they never heard of it! Anyway this is where I'm at, and why I'm here.  I'm not much of a thread starter, more of a reader and PM guy, so there you go.

Welcome  :welcome_005: to the site from Toledo, Ohio and congrats on your new MC.  :2vrolijk_21:  There is also nothing wrong with the Power Commander, so if you go that route, it will work just fine.  Also, the guys aren't the only one on this site that contribute info you might find usefull.  :kiss2: :antlers: :elvis:  but, since you're new, I won't hold it against you!   :lolk:

Thanks to everyone for all the welcome PMs and posts, much appreciated.  I need to clarify what I meant when I wrote "CVO guys" earlier.  My bike is a standard Street Glide...what I should have said was, "CVO owners."  Please don't hold it against me...especially LovemyCVOgirl, (my wife can be the jealous type). ;). Hey CVObiker, my Fatty was vivid black, I really loved the chrome and black combination, but man it was a lot of work to keep clean.  I saw the new Tequila Orange option and knew, it was time for a change.  My wife was in China for work, when I bought the Fatty. We had talked about me getting a bike but,  she was dead set against it; so I started with a Fatboy.  Words can not explain how excited  :soapbox: she was when she came home and saw "my" new ride in the garage.  It took her most of the first riding season to cool down before she would even consider getting on the back of it.  Actually not a bad start anyway, I had not been riding since highschool, thus it gave me time to get comfortable with the bike.  She demanded I take a safety course (I was going to anyway), before she would go anywhere on it.  The 2005 LTD came from the factory with the badlander seat, and that had to go as well.  Anyway, she ended up loving to ride, as a matter of fact, we have been out to Sturgis SD the last four years.  I'm just getting started on planning a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains next year. Also, the SG is called "our" bike. :bananarock:
