OTB,  You also have to consider the function/obstruction/power loss of the catalytic converters, which I believe (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) are in the head-pipes on the ConV.  Cutting the core out of the muffler may make it louder, but not perform better if that is all you do.  You will also be changing the back-pressure and that will effect performance as well.  This is a great board and we have all kinds of expertise and certainly better "wrenches" than me so I'm sure someone who has tried this will give you some direct feedback.  IMHO you would be better off with some 3rd party slip-ons or even better yet a whole new exhaust folowed by a dyno tune.

Let us know how it goes.

The catalyst on the Softies is in the mufflers.  As for just gutting the mufflers, I'm sure it can be done, but I'm also sure you will be much better served with a properly engineered replacement muffler.

I agree with Jerry.  Leave to stock ones alone.  If you ever sell the bike you can put them back on.  The SE's are pretty good.  Not too loud.

Agree x4 with you guys. I installed a tuner and now seat  of the pants throttle response is amazing compared to stock 110. I may  decide not to do anything with exhaust . Sounds and runs great now!! Thanks for the input.

Goto FullSac's web site, he has instructions as well as some GREAT cores. MUCH MUCH better sound, still looks stock.
