It filters a lot of money out of your pocket, I'll keep using the spin on filters- to heck with AL Gore  [smiley=drink.gif]

When you change your oil, take a 2 litre bottle, cut out the flat end and one side, loosen filter, slide bottle over filter, continue loosening until filter comes off, and let oil and filter drain in bottle and slide out.  This way you will get very little oil on the engine.  Use brake/parts cleaner to spray off area under filter.

twincam,

It could be much cleaner as far as removing the end cap and letting the oil drain, since you wouldn't have to remove the cannister at the filter adaptor plate.  But, once you drain the oil, you still have to pull the element and then clean the gunk out of the cannister.  Now that I've learned the heavy duty plastic bag method from the folks on this site, I don't think I'll be having a mess issue with the spin-on filter any more (awaiting next change to prove it).
