One of the guys at work said I probably killed the battery having it hooked up to the bike for three days down there so I could listen to tunes.

Mine (4S) was plugged in whenever I was on the bike, no problems - oh wait - maybe that is why I smoked my stator  :nixweiss:

That's good info., thanks.  This was a company phone, so it was no biggie to just take the upgrade, but my daughter also has a 4s, so if hers goes, I'm off to eBay! :)

Just got a 5 and am sending my 4 to gazelle for $40 (smashed screen). Took off the "chrome kit" I had on it. If you want it for your daughter's phone you can have it. Its basically a replacement back plate, but it's mirror finished with the apple logo and I'll give you the pentalobe screwdriver to change it. Then all you'd need is a replacement battery to get it up to speed.

The advantage is if you have a bluetooth headset you can connect phone to Garmin, and Garmin to headset.  You'll be able to take calls while riding if you have any desire to do so.
