Biketronics New 4 channel Amplifier
« on: September 18, 2012, 02:15:43 PM »

Anyone tried Biketronics new amp? The BT4180 is supposed to have a true 180 watts per channel x 4 into 4 ohms and have a .05 THD. Everything I've read looks great. All this in a small pkg 7x5x1.8 inches!

I put a link up Mike. Ask for Bill (press 2 for tech support) and tell him you are a member of this site and he'll work with you on the price. He has also personally tested all of the competition and seems to have data to back up his claims. He's a great guy to talk to.

I'm using Hertz 6.5 uppers and lowers that I also got from Bill at Biketronics. Huge improvement!

Could you give us your comparison opinion to the boom system? Scale of 1 to 10 that sort of thing. Volume, sound quality, ease of installation. Thanks

180w x 4ch @ 4 Ohm.  Says 2 Ohm capable, but no spec's? Also, what are those small boxes that they show in the kit?  Cross overs??

I'm in the process of building a new system and just ordered some stuff today from Donna at Biketronics. I ordered a Sony deck and the retrokit. I'm undecided on amp and speakers for right now. But I know I'm adding the Cycle Sounds saddlebag lids, and some 6x9's for them. I'm looking at the Biketronics amps for a couple reasons. Like someone already said, they're American-made, AND they have a LIFETIME warranty!

I'm currently running the stock HK deck, the J&M Rokkers amp and fairing speakers. It all sounds great, but I just want something obnoxious, to piss off the neighbors. Hell, I might even sacrifice the tourpak and turn it into a 12" sub-housing! This system is going to be badass!

Just had this amp installed last night. My Installer was very impressed with the unit. The sound is sooo much cleaner. He bypassed the tweets in the fairing as I already have 4 Hertz 6.5s with great tweeters. Seems to be much stronger than the factory Boom system too. The amp sits nicely on top of the HK head unit, with the Ipod unit taped underneath. Haven't had a chance to get out and ride it yet due to this damn drizzle. Have to work today but hoping the weather allows me to hit the Oyster run tomorrow. I'll post my thoughts after.

I'm not the tech guy so any big tech questions need to go to Bill at Biketronics, but I'll try to help with the common sense stuff.

Damn this thing rocks! Going down the highway (60-80 plus) the boom amp would have to be at 3/4 plus for volume with the AVC set at 2 bars. Couldn't go any higher without distortion. This Biketronics amp about makes your ears bleed at 1/2 volume! I had to turn the AVC down to 1 bar.
One of the things I was looking for was changing to a 4 channel amp and flashing the HK head unit so I could have fader control between the uppers and lowers on my SESG. This feature works awesome. I've always wanted to be able to bump the lowers a bit to even out the sound. The lowers seem to produce more base than the uppers. Must have to do with the enclosures and the opening sizes. I also put a few small strips of Fatmat behind each speaker. I'm using the same Biketronics (Hertz) Titan 6.5" uppers with 5 1/4 to 6.5 adapter ring, and lowers. Because of the quality and power of this system I was actually able to boost the base some and feel it working through my highway pegs!
In short, you guys and gals can do your own technical research, but from what I've read and heard out there nothing comes close to this new amp. Great job Biketronics.
