Our trip to Maggie Valley
« on: September 18, 2012, 09:05:08 PM »

Renay (Cyclegirl) and I left Toledo, Ohio this afternoon at 1 pm.  We had to wait until the front had passed cause we were determined to avoid the rain  :-\. We headed down I-75 South until we got past Dayton, OH.  We were determined not to go through Cincinnati since this is where we had our "horrible" MC wreck a year ago, so we took the 275 East around the city and caught I-75 South in Kentucky.  These pictures were taken when we stopped for supper just in Kentucky.

We made it to Lexington as the sun was going down.  The ride today was rain free and beautiful.  :2vrolijk_21:  The MC's ran great and we felt like we could have ridden longer but just didn't want to travel in the dark.  We will get up tomorrow and head on to MV.   :P

Was trying out my heated suit today since we left the house it was only 59 degrees.  I have the heated jacket, pants and clothes with a dual controller.  Before we pulled out of the driveway at home I plugged everything together and plugged this into the pigtail from my battery.  My mechanic wired it with a small toggle switch on the down frame right behind my tank.  I turned this on and had both knobs turned on my dual controller.  50 miles into the trip Renay asked if I was staying warm and I said yea, all was good but was a little disappointed with my gloves and I felt my arms could have been warmer.  200 miles into our trip I was looking at my dash while going down the road and noticed that I had an acc switch that I never remembered having before....,  :nixweiss: so, I flipped it on and  :o :D ::) my heated suit came to life like someone switched the burner on!   :'(. I was reaching for my dual control and dialing it down.  Now why the chit didn't my mechanic tell me that he wired it to the accessory switch.  :nixweiss:  I rode the last 150 miles laughing, smiling and as toasty as a bug in bed.   :P

Judy/Renay

It's just a 6 day trip.
I see enough stuff for two weeks.
I'm going to have to send you two to Nancy for packing instructions.

The weather sure looks good.
I noticed a block of some sort on the SG's side stand, what is it and what is its purpose?

That's funny Chip  :D.  The picture just makes the bag look bigger!  And I like changing my underwear everyday  :'(, so if that requires a bigger bag than give me the biggest ya got.  :P

Sounds like the trip down has been good so far.  Be safe coming on into MV and remember to watch for extra water on the roads.  We had over 6" rain in East Tennessee from Monday afternoon to Tuesday around noon.  Some areas toward the mountains got 8-9 inches.

Should be great, sunny and cool weather coming into MV today and the rest of the rally... :2vrolijk_21:

Chip I know you are teasing with them but.... Hey now  ;D I have seen more men riding solo packing more chit then Judy and Renay have.  When a man gets called on it he has all kinds of excuses (tools, oil, big azz camera, lens, etc..) and it is OK. Just trying to figure the double standard.  :nixweiss:  :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
 Pack on ladies  :2vrolijk_21:

Here is a pic of a single guy (He is leaning against a t-bag) we saw on our way to the Spokane GTG  :P Do not know the man or anyone he is riding with. Just saw ALL of his chit and wanted a picture I could use later and BINGO here we go.  :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Looking forward to more pictures  :2vrolijk_21:

Karen

No double standard.
Men usually pack more than women.
But rarely (your picture is an exception) do we allow pictures taken when all loaded up.
Also note that I said "Nancy" in my post for packing instructions.
She taught me the lesson on "PMS" packing men's chit!

 ;)

Thank you Karen for coming to my defense!   :2vrolijk_21:  And I love the picture of the "guy" going down the road with all his chit strapped to his MC.  :o. As Chip stated..., the guys never take pictures of their bikes once they are packed.  ;D. Ride on women and pack all the "chit" you want.  :P. Come see me Chip if you need anything on this trip.  8)
