It cost $459. for tuner and $300 for dyno I  would not pay the differ again for the V Hines did  a good job, ever one told me I would see a Big differs not so.  I was looking for a lot more power and better Accerleration  not a happy camper .

At least your more honest than many.  Lots of us (well intended) buy expensive exhaust and air cleaners and dyno time and a (sometimes questionable) 4, 5, 6, or 8% gain in the numbers.  Often in areas we're never really riding anyway.  Then proclaim to the masses how much better it runs when, in actuality, we really aren't feeling much if any difference.

Part of it is placebo effect.  Part of it is self-justification.  It's benign, no malignant, so it's not really a big deal.  That common one or two grand spent for pipes and tune and air cleaner may indeed make the engine happier.  But it also rarely makes such a significant performance difference that it really justifies a thousand or two thousand dollars.

Having said that, justification is in the eye (and wallet) of the beholder. So if someone feels good about spending that much to gain what they often can only barely (if it all) feel in the seat of their pants more power to them.

Of course right now you're on the slippery slope of the unknown.  Did it not run much better because the parts just couldn't give that much?  Or did it not run much better because the tuning effort was poorly done?  If the latter is suspected the only way to make the original money spent worthwhile is to spend more money.  With another tuner.  Because the first one is no longer trusted to do a good job.  If the former is suspected than to further justify an attempt at more gain you're (also) spending more money buying another new set of parts to replace the first set you just bought and no doubt.  All in the name of chasing just a few horsepower and a bit more torque.  If only we could just leave chit alone.

It always helps to do your homework and get a consensus from other riders that have had dyno tunes done in your area as to who is the best and who not to visit.

It has been my experience that HP/TQ cost about $100.00 per HP roughly. Stock a CVO is 85-90 HP and 100 TQ. Spend $1,500.00 on a exhaust, tuner and a good dyno tune and you get roughly 95 HP / 110 Tq give or take depending on what parts you use. I spent the money because it was worth it for me just to have the bike run cooler. Each individual needs to figure out if it is worth it to them or not. My last build cost me roughly $10,000.00 for an engine that produced 125 HP 128 TQ.

I just got mine back from the dealer, had the SEPST installed picked up about 10/10, dyno says 91 hp and 110 ft/lbs with Fulsac "B" and V&H High Outputs plus runs a lot cooler.

I agree with having the engine run cooler, we all know these 110ci run very hot.
With cats removed V&H Monster Rounds otherwise complete stock my SG go 96HP 113TQ

Bobby,

Maybe the tuner didn't know what he was doing, and you need to find someone who can dynotune your bike correctly.  After spending $300, I know that's the last thing you want to hear.

Just curious; does your bike start easier, run cooler, idle more smoothly, or get better gas mileage with the SERT?  Did it eliminate pinging, decal popping, and/or backfiring?  Besides seat of the pants acceleration, there're many areas affected by the ECM that may have benefitted from using a SERT.  As far as peak Tq and HP, you probably got a couple more of each, but that may not be enough of a power increase to feel the difference.

Hope you come to a conclusion that you're happy with.  Ride safe.

Dan

Bobby-  where in Washington are you located.   I have gone both routes using a PC5 (tuning moderately myself) and The SE tuner (tuned on a dyno). Hands done the dyno had the better results ( better throttle response, ran cooler, and smoother got great milage for the build 35avg mpg before tune 41avg mpg after my last tune).  I have used the same guy to tune my last 3 bikes.  All with great results.  My guy is here in Washington state.  Pm me if you want more details
