Softail CVO cat removal

Has anyone removed the cats (or most of the material) on the 2012 Softail CVO?  If so how was the sound. 

I did this on my 08 SE3 and the sound sucked.

Looking at SE slip on mufflers without the cats as an alternative, don't want loud just a nice rumple louder than stock.
