Fairing mount oil temp gauge
« on: September 21, 2012, 12:00:21 PM »

It doesn't appear as if the Motor Company makes an fairing mount oil temp gauge to match the CVO gauges.....can anyone suggest anything close? I prefer not to use a dipstick gauge, I want to be able to monitor engine conditions while riding, not after get off the bike.

I was wondering the same thing, I had thought about whether or not the worthless air temp gauge could be used for oil temp, I dont know what the ranges are for the air sensor or the oil sensor, obviously they are different but if all it took was a resistor it would be better than the air temp gauge IMHO.

I replaced the gauges with the Dakota Digital six pack, which comes with a oil temp gauge and does away with the air temp gauge.  I think they come in either red or blue and Henley Custom in Indiana had the best price.

Not sure which bike you have, but I have a 2008 CUSE.  The motor company did provide a matching faced oil temp gauge and I have it installed in place of the useless ambient air temp gauge (I mounted an accurate Fomotion air temp gauge off the side of my fairing).

It don't make sense to me, I have a 2010 SESG and would like to have a Oil Temp gauge in the dash instead of the Air Temp and don't understand why they don't or can't make one to match. :(

Took MoCo several years to get a spun aluminum gauge on the street to match the SEEGs and others that begin in 2004.  Really think they'd get in more of a hurry now?

The guages in the CVO bikes are lower production pieces.  They'll come later for P&A accessories to match.  It's an incredibly big deal to make one other gauge face for an instrument that is otherwise identical to the rest of production....

When the matching instrument does come out at least hope it's actually a 100% match to your existing instruments.  Harley never did get that right for the spun aluminum small instruments relative to the oil temp gauge.

Well, I'd like to try a decent ANALOG oil temp gauge mounted in the dipstick.  Have heard too many bad (inaccurate)things about the digital one. Anyone know of a source?

On my 2010 CVO Ultra the gauges light up with a red background color, does anyone know of they make an oil temp gauge for these models?

110Thunder (Brian) has a nice analog temp dipstick on his new bike.  I can't find the thread, but you could PM him.

Thanks.  I may have seen his bike at Maggie Valley.  I spotted one with an analog gauge but no one around to ask.

If the bike you saw was clean enough to eat off of then you saw Brian's bike.
