Fuel Mileage
« on: August 03, 2004, 08:22:31 AM »

My 2004  SEEG is only getting  28  MPG  and this is mostly highway mileage.  Can only go 150 miles at most on tank of fuel.  Pretty pathetic for a supposed touring bike.  What is everybody else experiencing?  Thanks for your input.

I get 38 to 41, I noticed it makes a big difference how hard you get on it but 28 does seem awfully low.

I've also got a 2004 SEEG that's stock except for Rineharts' and some tweaking done by the service manager at my local shop in Crystal River, FL.  My mileage started out 32 to 34 for the first 1200 or so miles.  I now have 3500 on the bike and I recently got 41.5 on a 500 mile road trip running 80 to 85 most of the time.  Have several friends also riding SEEG's and they report 38 to 42 on the road.  All seem to agree that the mileage goes down dramatically if the scooter is lugged along or run below 2200 rpm for an extended period.  Let me know if your local dealer can't get the problem fixed and I'll give you the names of the people to talk to at Crystal River Harley. (The head mechanic there also rides an '04 SEEG and knows the 103's very well.)  Good luck. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

WFP,
do you get alot of popping with those wide ovals?
i tried everything to get rid of it. i finally changed pipes.
i don't think the wide ovals are free flowing enough for the stroker motor.
its a shame because i love the look and sound.

My SEEG goes 145 miles before the light comes on, I think thats around 34 mpg.
My Porsche gets between 16 and 18 mpg.
I ride/drive both over 100 mph and over 5000 rpms numerous times  a week.

Its that right side of the body thing. Wrist and Foot.

If you are getting 28 with normal riding on your SEEG, I would think an adjustment in needed.

Funny you should mention it...for the first 2800 miles, they were fine.

I average about 30 mpg doing 80 to 90 mph. The best I've gotten was about 38 mpg on the highway.

Depending on how I ride, I get 35 to 41 MPG.  D&D two into one exhaust, air cleaner, and Power Commander.

28?[smiley=shocked2.gif]  That seems unusually low.  My bike has SE air cleaner, SE one-piece pipes and reflash.  All-time low so far has been 34 during break-in.  On the other hand, you really have to baby it to get it into the 40's.  41 is the best I've seen so far, but then again, I have never emptied a tank with the cruise control on (too boring). I have the SEEG 04 Sampson oval slip ons Screamin eagle air cleaner and Harley's cartrige down load. I was averaging 34 to 38 and then went on a 5 day ride back in the woods no freeways ride. The group wanted to cruise at 55mph, I got mid to high 40's 45, 46 and as high as 49 the key is not to throtle hard and ride slow. It was tough to do I only hit 100mph once on that trip. nice to now the bike can go 200 miles on a tank of gas. If I set the cruise at 72mph on the freeway I get 34 to 34.5 mph.
