Here is the thread that had the frame powdercoated - Jester Rebuild From the Ground Up... pics of paint might be in that one also. (Only 20 pages to sift through on this one :D)

Even this thread had little complete assembly though.  It was all a process thread.  Still a way cool looking bike.

Remember Chuck saying later though that the one-off specialty paint job was a challenge.  Every little rock nick in the fairing or other cosmetic blemish that came from just normal use was a greater than normal challenge and something of a nuisance; just because it was a one-off.

Why would you !!!   :nixweiss:

Well, I love the whole concept of the screamin eagle road king, just getting tired of the paint scheme. I thought it would be cheaper than trading in for a new one. Which, Im not a big fan of the new paint schemes. To Be honest, I like flame paint jobs, and deep metallic paint

I would think it would greatly affect the resale value to the lower side. One thought is to take your paint budget and apply it to a new CVO....that is if you like the new paint colors!

If you are going to paint a CVO another color, just sell the bike to someone who wants THAT specific CVO, then buy any bike and paint it the way you want.

I agree with the previous comments, it'll be cheaper for you to sell this bike and start over with different non CVO bike to paint if you want a custom paint job, or just buy a paint scheme that you do like. Not a Duracell fan either.

I think it should be noted that Chief wrecked his bike. I doubt seriously he would have custom painted his CVO had it not been wrecked.

Depends on what you want Mark.  A few guys have run the numbers and found it was cost effective to start with a CVO bike if you were after the bigger engine and many of the other accessories.

I seriously doubt I will ever get rid of this bike, so resale is not an issue......Plus, I do not want a new cvo...... I love my roadking, just not the color so much anymore... I do not like the new cvo roadking colors.....they need a deep metallic black with candy orange and candy apple red blended ghost flames. Start with the candy apple and fade into the candy orange

After checking out the pictures Chief did on his CVO, I say change the color if you can keep such quality.

Hey Don, I didn't see any pics showing Chiefs bike in complete form, do you have a link to those pages. ??

Agree with several others. It,s your bike, change the look to suit yourself. Would go with a used set of tins and repaint them. Keep the originals.

If you have no intentions of selling it, PAINT IT. And share your pics. I gave my bike a whole new "facelift". If it makes you happy, Just Do It.

Once you make the decision to keep the bike forever the entire resale thing goes out the window, so now it becomes a case of how much you want to spend.  Do you want a truly one off custom paint job, or perhaps one of the Harley Color Shop sets?  And if your existing tins are in very good condition, would it possibly make more sense to have a different set of tins painted for your bike and then sell the CVO tins to someone wanting to repair their CVO?  Odds are you could sell the existing tins if in good condition for significantly more than what new or used primed parts would cost, and the difference could help toward that custom paint bill.  Just throwing out some thoughts here.
