full sac head pipe Vs. gutted stock?
« on: September 24, 2012, 10:14:28 AM »

Anyone dynoed a bike both ways? Is there that much difference? Just got my new bike friday and something has to be done with exhaust! Thinking 2 inch cores and either full sac pipe or gut stock pipe.  Thanks in advance.

There are a few ways to go, power (difference) = $$
Personally, I have found the sound quality of the x-pipe to my liking. There IS a sound difference from stock, gutted pipe, sport pipe, x-pipe, very subtle.
The is also a small difference in the power of said pipes, but, that will depend on the REST of your motor.
I have had the x-pipe on my last 2 bikes, some friends here have the sport pipe, gutted stock pipe and ALL like what they have.....basically YOUR choice.

$300 for a couple of TQ numbers and a subtle sound difference = money well spent??

Love my gutted stock header (Extra Cost $0) with my V&H Hi Output slipons. I really don't think I could drag $300 out of my pocket for a slight TQ number and sound difference.

I've got the X-pipe, love it, and highly recommend it.  Having said that, if I had the capabilities to cut the stock pipe, gut it, and weld it back together properly, I'd probably have gone that route.  If you plan on using a drill to core it out, don't.  It has to be cut in half for all the material to be removed.

If you have or are planning on leaving your motoer stock (No cams, pistons, head work) the $249 exchange for Steve's headpipe is a no brainer!
gutted & ceramic coated

Steve has shown 1-2 HP differences from the X pipe to the Sportpipe on a stock 110
