Through the Sierra's to Reno - Street Vibrations, 2012
« on: September 25, 2012, 02:32:59 PM »

Got some great tips (and laughs) from my "In Town" thread about Street Vibrations.  Had been to the area many times but never to the event.  Always heard it was fun.  So, Tuesday, Sept. 18, the group met in Valencia for the ride north on I-5 over the Grapevine and through California's Central Valley.  Stopped at Bakersfield HD and saw a CVO RK but nothing we had not seen before.  While there, Bob mentioned he wanted a new '12 CVO Ultra in yellow to replace his '03 100th Anniversary Ultra.  I knew of one sitting at Bartel's in MDR, CA.  We called and spoke to a salesman I know and made the deal over the phone.

From there we headed up US 99 and stopped in Traver off the Merritt Dr. exit for a great Tri Tip sandwich... and only $6!

Even better, the place is next to the Bravo Farms Cheese Factory.  This is a terrific place that I've passed hundreds of times on the 99.  Check out the link above for a great description.

The Factory has an amazing collection of paraphernalia, to see, including what seemed to be Mater's cousin.

A John Deer Sportster.  Not sure if it's used on the farm.

Great area to eat and good food.  I sampled some amazing cheeses and will go back!

We pressed on to Bass Lake and here we are in front of Treeman's home a block off the Lake.

The guys wanted to hit the Lake and relax so here we are on Treeman's party barge.  This day was pretty mellow but if boats could talk....

After a restful sleep, we headed up the 41 into the south entrance of Yosemite.  It's a beautiful drive as you know.  As we exited the tunnel, the main lot was packed with tourists.  Luckily, they had not spilled over to the second lot so we could get some great pictures.

We got inundated by tourists who wanted pictures.  So much so, the guys gave me a new nickname, "Hollywood."   :coolblue:  NO!  don't call me that unless....   >:(

So, on the last ride through the park, we ran into Panhead Jimmy.  This time it was Eagle Eye / Ken!

I had the guys each go around the lot and back up the road to get this shot.  Here's Chuck on his '09 SERG.

Chuck tried to get the same shot of me.  This is the result of premature shutter ejaculation!   :huepfenlol2:

Headed on the 120 over Tioga pass.  Here's Tenaya Lake.

After lunch at the Lee Vining Mobile Station (great food!), we headed up 395 through Bridgeport to the 89 and over Moniter Pass to Markleeville.  Along the way, Treeman wanted to check out my Progressive / Suspension Technologies suspension.

I road his Ultra Limited for about 10 miles.  No Bats for me!
