Corbin seat fitment
« on: August 24, 2006, 10:17:29 PM »

I just received and put on my seat and it has a gap on the front right by the tank. Does anyone else have a gap like that? I am checking into seeing if they will redo this as I don't like the fit. The little I've ridden it though the seat feels pretty good so far.

Did I read somewhere that the console can be adjusted, or the tank, or something?  Aw, whatta I know.  Hope that hard seat works for ya, ya hard ass.  See ya at ABATE meeting Sunday?

Here's how mine fits.  The contours align pretty well and it's symetrical from side to side.  Always seemed to fit ok to me  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] .

Hey BigDog, you oughta be happy with the 'fitment' of the Corbin seat or I'd arrange to send it back for another.  That's part of what the Corbin legacy is all about:  how well they fit.  So, give um a call and let us know how they respond.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  spyder

Mine has a gap on between the tank and seat on the side that Twolane has a picture of. The other side is tight to the tank and everything looks straight. The tank cuts out on the right side more then the left and we looked at several tanks and the touring bikes all had this. I will return it to try and get a better fit for sure.

I might also run up to Daytona and see if they could fix the problem there.

Mine has about the same gap that Twolane's does.......just enough to keep it from rubbing on the paint but not enough to make it a noticable thing.

Do you have pictures of it?  Did you buy directly from Corbin or from a vendor?  Their customer service kind of sucks if you ordered directly from them, via mail order.  But if you can go in person.....it's great customer service.....at least out here in Hollister. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

JC my gap is bigger then that. I'm going to try to adjust the back bolt strap and move it forward there, but the left side isn't bad so it might move it forward too much. I'll just have to play with it and see.

Bought it through a friend who has a shop. Talked to Corbin and they claim they are all like this to adjust tank back and move seat forward by the back strap. We'll see.

BigDog, I had the best luck with Corbin sending my issues by e-mail. They responded fast and went out of their way to fix the problem after the customer service guy told me to live with it...

OK after moving the back bracket back as far as it would go it is a better fit. After looking at Twolanes picture again mine look's comparable to that. I guess I thought it would be a more custom fit since they designed it for our bikes.
I love the look and so far the ride is great so I won't complain too much.

Bigdog

I just finished an ocean to ocean ride on a new Corbin.......I still don't understand how such a hard damn seat to the touch can be so comfortable on the long hauls.  Over 4k miles and my but just never became an issue for me this time.  The first time I ever spent more than a couple hours in the saddle and my butt wasn't an issue.  For years I've called it "monkey butt" cause my butt would always feel the way those monkeys butts look in the zoo.  Not this time......it was all good baby!

Corbin also makes a matching wrap around passenger backrest for the King Tour Pack and Terrie rode back from Colorado with me and said it's fine.........but she prefers the front seat on her bike. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I received my Corbin today after waiting 5 weeks and have to send back already.  I have added saddlebag guards.  The salesman and Corbin were aware of this as it is right on the order.  Received with no notches in the seat pan to clear the guards.  Sit the seat on the bike with the front tongue engaged, the middle of the seat hits the guards, and the rear tongue is 3" in the air.  I know the seat is not in the "home" position, but I hope I can get my RF corner of the seat to fit as well as 2Lanes. As it is now, it will not come close.  As Bigdog stated, the RR and LR corners of the fuel tank are not made the same.  Looks good in the middle and LH side.  Hopefully it all works out.  One week shipping out, who knows how long they walk around it, and one week back.  Riding days are getting short.  Disgusted in Columbus. :(

Here is a picture of my Corbin I received today.  It seems to sit you in about the same position but is slightly wider at the front nose (am still flat footed at a stop) and about 1" wider for the rider's seat.  I couldn't get it to fit the way I wanted so I called my Daytona salesman and said to take a cresent wrench, turn the seat upside down, and bend the front tongue a little.  Worked like a charm.
It's a shame the MOCO couldn't make the RH and LH sides of the tanks the same at the rear.

Here's another.  I bought the heated seat from Corbin, the oval backrest from M&M Cycles thru Drag, and bought the plain chopped tourpack backrest off Ebay.
