Dawg no slipping here I had to spend some time building the motor that spanked Ole Hub.   Almost all my tiny projects with the SESG are done and I am re-engaging now, been considering another 117 but leaning towards the 120 as the answer.    The one we have is running great, just not enough miles to be sold on its longevity yet.

I have seen soooo many 120's built from the ground up by my GOOD FRIENDS over in Elkridge. They will last for ever if you take care of them. I think that motor is still their bread and butter as far as complete motors go!

I am going to do something with Saphire over the winter. Nothing much but I will have the heads off. I am looking more for reliability than going fast. The motor they built for Ole Punkin is still running strong. I am still very Happy with the build. The bike has be reliable and still runs like a SCALDED DAWG!!!!! As a matter of fact I am giving her a bath and then going to run the roads on her today!!!!!

So Elkridge rebuilt it after Zippers did their muscle 113?   Which heads did you use for that build? were they the ones you sent to Wes ?

Jr thanks for putting that up.   Was hoping to see the change from what you started with to what you ended up, the net gain.    As with all the other cams for the 110 your right there in the hunt.   10x  hp   11x torque.

Do you think I should change up the exhaust and tb and try again??  How much better do you think it should be?

jr1000,

You are the only one that has to be happy with it.  There isnt a lot of data on the 57 I don't know if it can be better or if you hit the ball out of the park with that cam and combo you did, which was why I was hoping to see the gains you made pre / post vs. just a here are the end numbers.   It is always about the combo and the stacking of tolerances that you have from Harley.   I woudlnt play the what if game you can go broke doing it and never end up happy just cause someone says it could be better.   5 more hp or 5 more torque you wont feel, so I wouldnt go chasing it since there is no headwork atm.    Did you need the heads off to add the extra compression couldnt tell you, not enough information in the thread to say how far your pistons were in the hole or how good or bad your heads were to start with, or how well your pistons fit the cylinders that is why a lot of guys opt for a complete "blue" print build to be sure all the ducks are in a row and even then the build relys on the headwork and compression to match the type of cam your going to use.   I will say I can't wait to see the Kuryakyn cam get a few installs done when they are release as it has the potential to be best bolt in cam we have seen for the 110 if the numbers remain constant.   1 dyno report isnt enough to bank on though although it has peaked a lot of peoples interest, so go enjoy what you have for a while then determine if you are happy or not you can always spend that money.   Just remember day to day even with headwork most guys are in the 115-120 hp and 115-125 torque range so the question is is it worth the top end tear down more compression and headwork to you.

I wouldn't second guess it and go ride it and have some fun you are in the "ball park" for the numbers you got with the build you did and that is based on the numbers posted to this site and many others on the 110 with cam, exhaust, tune and air breather.

Yeah I know, just thought you meant the Harley Dealer or another shop there and not Zippers since you had sent some heads out to Pammy and Wes.   Although if memory serves me I thought that that Harley dealer was closing or did close.

Heads????? What heads?????

Yes the dealer did close. They had a great location before moving over to Rt1. That too was a great location but it also had a 5 million dollar price tag to go along with it. It was a beautiful Dealership and a VERY CLEAN shop. But Mama Harley drove another one into the ground!!!

I just looked at your dyno sheet. There is nothing wrong with that. GREAT TQ numbers. HP numbers are for bragging rights. You had the heads off and changed the head gasket to bring up the compression. If you change the TB and go larger the TQ numbers will drop. You may pick up some HP by changing the pipes but to spend 500 dollars or more is it worth 2,3 or even 4 HP??? That would be a choice I wouldn't make.

I bet the bike is fun to ride now. Go ride it and enjoy it. That's why we buy them!!!!!

Harry Zippers built that motor 6 years ago. A lot of things have changed since then. So over 6 years I have sold a lot of parts bought a lot of parts and built quite a few motors. So not sure what heads you are talking about. I have a set of Wes's heads on a 95 incher that spins the treadmill at 135 HP. Wes welded them up and reshaped the entire intake, exhaust runners and combustion chamber. That little 95 inch motor is scary to say the least. So I'm not sure if those are the heads in question.

Actually Punkins old 113 motor that Zippers built was a mild build to say the least. It was very reliable toooo. I have all of those parts laying around somewhere.

The huge dip in the torque in the lower rpm's is caused by the open CFR mufflers.....I've seen it here too.

I think you have some more in the motor with a little better tune.   Your tuner used Smoothing 3 and the graph has peaks in it which got you the 111 vs say a 108/109 torque number as well as the graph is a bit choppier than I would like to see it even for Smoothing 3.  Your numbers are in the hunt, but the tune could be a bit better imo.   Your tuner printed out some of his step tunes and those should have been better.  Typically a .2 variance is acceptable with the air, fuel deliver and such, but yours when they go off go off for almost a full AFR or close to it.

Please see the circles it didnt tell me which cylinder, but he left 5 and 10 percent this way I would question the other cylinder as well as teh other RPM's he did the tune in.

This one at 5% isnt as bad as the 10 percent blue line, but still is too far off to let it go out the door even at 1750 rpm

Here is a comparison of the same run on one of my bikes that Doc tuned from the run files I created these 2 to show you smoothing 3 vs smoothing 5 and about how they should come out so you can compare on your own.
