2012 Tour Pak Relocator
« on: September 27, 2012, 06:15:36 PM »

I have to get the tour pak back so the old lady will stop pushing on me!!!!
Have been looking at the "George Anderson Relocator" but the phone # (309-236-0952) doesn't answer. I'm looking for input about it or any problems moving the pak back.
My 07 ultra CVO didn't have the room problems this one has but I like the 2012.
Thanks for any help!!!

The reason for less room is due to the lumbar support in the TP backrest...it takes away about 1" of space.  There are no problems moving the TP back...there are adjustments for 1", 1.5" and 2.5".  1.5" was enough in my case.

Used a George Anderson on my '09 CUSE(Amp under Pak). Full movement, no wire extension required.

Terry I'm not sure that is the case on the 12 models. I have had a problem with my "T" bag and me. I had the bike on the lift 2 weeks ago and didn't see any other holes to move it back.!!!!

Here is a link to purchase the George's Tour Pack Relocator online.  It costs a few bucks more than going through George directly, but unlike George, the site takes credit cards.

I purchased one, and it was a very easy install and my BSR loves the extra room.  George makes a fantastic product - this is very well built!

I bought the 12' CVO Ultra, got home with it and had an immediate problem when my wife got on it.  She said this isn't going to work.  I bought and installed George Anderson's Tour Pak Relocator (very easy) and set it all the way back.  The wife is happy again.  Very good quality item.

Michael...I was talking about the holes available if you install George's plate.  As you say, there are only two sets of holes in the stock setup, and the bike is supposed to come set up in the set of holes that put the TP in the most rearward position...but it's still not enough for most BSR's 'cause the lumbar support, even when in the least obtrusive position, takes up about an inch of space that was available on the earlier models without lumbar support.  Judi is not a big person at all, and she needed that extra 1.5" that George's TP plate gives her.

Sorry Terry, I guess I miss understood you. You failed to mention the relocation kit..  I guess I will need to buy the reloaction kit. It looks like everyone who has installed them is happy with them.

I just went through this exact same issue.  I came from an 05 Ultra and my fiance had plenty of room.  On my new 13 CVO she was very unhappy.  We tried lowering the lumbar all the way to no avail.  I then checked to see if the pak could be moved back...  Nope, it was all the way back already.  I looked into the Kury option but heard it can be tough to use one of the cams on a CVO and I doubted I would ever get enough slack out of the lines to move it all the way back anyway.  I purchased the George Anderson from tourpaks.com (I did speak to George but I didn't want to use snail mail to send a check).  I think the cost was 196.00 and it included shipping.  The GA piece is made extremely well.  Install was a piece of cake.  I did have to fuss a bit to get enough slack in the wires to get it back all the way but it works.  I really doubt if I would have been able to move it further back (with the Kury version) another inch or two.  She is happy again with here seating position.  My only complaint is that I don't like the look of the passenger seat with the large gap showing now.  I'm not sure how to address this.  Maybe have to make a longer pad to help hide it I guess.

I'm not convinced that the lumbar on the CVO caused all the shortage of space.  On my 05 Ultra with a corbin, there was a lot of space.  It looked like the CVO had a lot less than just a 1" loss due to the lumbar.

Anyway, you can't go wrong with the George Anderson part.

Mine came set up in the forward position, I moved it back to the rearward holes. Wife happy, but she is 115 lbs.

I could be mistaken, but I think the bikes are shipped with the TP in the forward holes and the dealer is supposed to move it to the rear holes, but the dealers "forget" sometimes.  One other thing that can be a factor is in what holes one has the driver's backrest bracket (for those bikes that have the backrest).

I took the GA relocator off my '09 and it was a day one addition to my '12.  It was also probably the hardest thing to remember to take off the old bike.  You put it on, it does what it's supposed to, and you never see it again and forget it's there.
