Hi all I have a 2012 seeg and I am ready to ditch the air shocks. Has anyone had a comparison between progressive 944's and the HD version? Any pros or cons of either?  Are the progressive really worth the difference in the cost? Is it worth lowering it one inch, I have enough legs for how it is set up now but I like the lowered look? Any problems if lowered?  Thanks

I have had the 944's on for a about 1000 mile now. Took 6 weeks to get but I believe were well worth the wait. The 1" lower has not effected the ride at all. Mono Tubes on the front are nice. I lowered the front 1" also. Know one person who has done the HD and when he went back to the dealer a year later the service MGR asked why he put those on. He recommended the Progressive. IMOP Progressive worth every penny. You wont regret it.

Harley does not sell a decent set of shocks, IMO.  Don't waste your money...get something good and be done with it.

BTW...my vote is for Bitubo shocks.

I had the 944's on my 05 Ultra along with Progressive's monotube kit lowering the front 1" also.  The 944's were a huge improvement over my old (nearly dead HD air shocks on the 05).   When I traded the 05 in on the 2013 CVO, I took my 944's with me and put them on the CVO.  Of course I'm happy with the 944's but honestly, between the air shocks on the CVO and the hammock seat, the ride was fine.  The ride with the 944's is very nice and I appreciate the extra inch they gave me lowered in the rear this is nice for my 30 inch inseam.  At my 1K service I had a new set of Progressive monotubes installed and lowered the front an inch.  So far, I'm even happier with the monotubes on the front of the 13 than I was on the 05.  The brake dive on the 13 was horrible.  It's no longer an issue, and she doesn't bounce all over the road the way she did before either.  I've noticed no difference in handling thus far.

I run 940's and am vey happy with the ride. The 944's are about $300 more so are are prob like silk. I would highly recommend the 1" lower Monotubes if you drop the rear.

Update:::  the mono tubes are stiffer than I was expecting but I like it after the few miles that we have put on the bike. The 944's are great! The ride suburb , it is like riding on air, no pun intended.....  A much superior ride over the air shocks.  I also really like the look with it 1" lower.

Does the 1 inch lower make a difference on ground clearance. What I mean is does you bike drag in a tight turn. My C.V.O. does not drag right now, and I really don't want it to.

One reason I went with the Progressive Monotubes is that I already gave the MOCO $35,000 for a bike with a woefully inadequate antiquated front suspension .......and just can't bring myself to give the MOCO more money for an 'upgraded suspension' that should have been there in the first place! But...those are just MY thoughts on the subject.

Yes, it will make a difference in ground clearance.  It depends on how you ride as to whether you'd drag hard parts in curves.  I would, so I keep my bikes at standard height.  I do not like dragging parts in curves...it makes me flinch just a bit, and that is not a good thing in the middle of a turn.

yes i have already dragged the footboard but i don't think that it is any worse than the 2005 ultra that i had. the look and ride is worth it to me. i may feel different after the next trip to colorado or the dragon, but until then i can adjust ...
