Mustang wide tripper solo
« on: October 08, 2012, 10:42:57 AM »

Any one replace their stock seat (from the 2 piece seat on a 2012 or  2013 Cvo SG or RG) to a mustang wide tripper solo with back rest?  If so, how does the mustang compare dimensionally to the stocker?  Does it push you forward or back? Does it sit as low as the stock or higher?  Any input would be appreciated as I am looking for options on my 2013 Cvo RK.  Thanks in advance.

I've got one & it pushes you forward which is fine for a vertically impaired rider like myself...It sits about the same height wise but just further forward.

If you are talking about Part Number: 79725
Harley-Davidson® FLHT/FLTR/FLHX/FLHR 2008-Up Wide Tripper™ Solo with Driver Backrest in Diamond Pattern

It's sits as low and farther back

Thanks for the replies. That seat looks great on your bikes. Any issues with the metal plate for the backrest? Do you feel it when you sit on the seat.  Thanks for helping me spend my money.  I think I am going to order one in brown to go on my burgundy blaze RK.

You won't regret getting the Wide Tripper.  Got one for my SESG3 and love it.  The metal pan makes it more firm, so it doesn't give and drop to the frame like the plastic panned stock seat does.  I think it rides a little higher than stock as I had to change the windshield after I changed the seat...but it's all good.  The seat is definitely a keeper.   :2vrolijk_21:

Just got off the phone with MUSTANG:  They are starting a "custom seat" division in June.  I'm going to wait till then.  They were able to a "diamond stitch" for 10% more on a Solo...but not with THREAD COLOR to match my 2012 Skunk Black/Gold.  Ami suggested I wait till then.  I will!  Great customer service to not BS you into buying a seat when you could get exactly what you want!

Does the stock passenger pillion still fit with the Wide Tripper? Looks like it would.  :confused5:

I'm looking for a solo for my RG. How does this seat do on long rides? It looks like the padding is thin But it looks great,.

thanks in advance

Nice.  I have a SKUNK too and just got off the phone with AMI to see if they could do the stitching in GOLD like the stock seat.  I posted earlier this month and she suggested I wait till June 1.  She was still not sure what the status was.  She's going to call in the AM and I'll post ASAP if I get an answer.
