Heat Issue - New Pipes?
« on: October 08, 2012, 07:31:03 PM »

I just purchased my first CVO - 2103 Road King.  Obviously, the 110 puts out a lot of heat and in Georgia - that is excessive.  I was wondering if adding new pipes might help and if so what kind?  I have had D & D Fat Cats on previous HD's and I know they are hot.  Any suggestions?

Here is what I did to my street glide.
cobra true duals, header heat wraped'em, free flow mufflers, master tune.
HUGE difference!
Heat gun gives around 100 degrees on the heat shields after extended idle. Can't hold my hand on them though!

Like many others on this forum - FullSac "C" X-Pipe, FullSac baffles and the TTS Mastertune map that FullSac provides - is the way I went. Dramatic heat reduction; sounds great and runs very well.

Do the heat deflectors help at all?   You think it's hot in ga?.  Try it in south fla.   :sauer005: :sauer005:

I have never heard of the Fullsac Pipes.  I have heard the V & H, Reinhart & Fatcat.  How do they compare in sound to them?  If they really reduce heat, I am definitely willing to give them a try.

Fulsac and a good tune is a big help.   110 s are hot.  No matter what you do,, they are hot.  Getting the cat out of there makes a big difference

I got rid of the Catalytic Converter by using "Vance & Hines True Duels" and it never changed the heat at all. It was still very uncomfortable to ride.

I have since put on the Fullsac "C" X-Pipe and the heat is now not a problem.
The "C" model is made specifically for the 110 motors.

I am using the SE tuner from HD and Rinehart's 4" mufflers (I already had these).
I just bought the headers from Fullsac.
My dyno tuner guy was impressed with the results of these headers.
