Fulsac and What Can???
« on: October 13, 2012, 02:37:31 PM »

I have a new CVO 2012 Streetglide.  Have pretty much settled on Fulsac X pipe and want to know which cans you would suggest  adding.

Here is my grail:
- don't want to screw up low end torque
- want to get a good loud sound

Have been troubling over the V&H High Outputs, 4" Rineharts or CFR.

What would your recommendation be to best accomplish the above?

Feel free to recommend something else.

Thanks in advance

Love my CFR's :pineapple: :pepper: :cucumber: :huepfenjump3:

Heard a few new bikes with Fullsac 2" baffles, not quite as loud as CFR's but sounded good.  Mine perform well.  The Rineharts are too quite for me.

just my .02

CFR, V&H High Out Put, and Rineheart will lower your power in the low rpm's so if you don't want to effect your torque where you ride all day stay away from those. Fullsac 2'' baffles allow you to keep your good looking stock CVO muffler and it will perform GREAT every where.
Another good sounding performer is the Freedom 4'' Classic Slip-ons.

I just installed the C xpipe and the 2 in. fullsac baffles with the tts mastertune from fullsac on Thursday. I got about a 175 mile ride in today. Bike ran flawlessly. The heat to the underside of my right leg is all but gone. The sound is awesome, just to my liking. I too thought about different mufflers, but now that is not even a consideration. Besides the baffles have been tested and proven by fullsac to provide added power. The total cost of the fullsac muffler change is less 120 dollars considering you have access to a dremel or preferably an air grinder. To me it is worth the time and effort to reuse modified stock mufflers.

Hey Doc, youve seen the new 4" Rineharts with their standard 2.25" baffles lose low end tq?

And these are not too quiet. I have these and used to have the fullsac baffles and the Rineharts are much meaner sounding, especially at idle.

I also did the fullsac x pipe the "c" version.  I love the performance and the sound .  I installed RC slip on mufflers, the Rival Eclipse look similar to the stock CVO. here  is the link to look at them and the various styles of end caps http://www.rccomponents.com/rcxhaust/products/slip-ons.htm .  Here are my numbers for a stock CVO 110...Like Doc states the CFR seems to loose low to mid torque and these, IMHO, sound awesome - as well are less expensive and no sacrifice where I ride all day long.   You should also get it tuned with the TTS.

....just to add my 2c

If you decide on keeping the the original cans. And replace just the baffles, you can also experiment with the packing around the baffle.

I sent my cans to fulsac. They put the cans in for me and the beat part is that I didn't have to do it. Or f$&k them up.  Cams back with the x pipe and I was ready to go. I waited for the pipe with the test ports.  That took a few weeks longer but worth the wait.  :2vrolijk_21:

I have done a few all used different mufflers--rinehart,V&H,Rush, and stock CVO.  Our shop is upgrading a motor in an FLHTCTUG---SE 259 Cams, Heads and fullsac C with fullsac cored slipons.  i will let you all know how that one shakes out when i finish   :2vrolijk_21:

I looked at the Fullsac website to check out the head pipes.  I don't see the C version you are referring to.  Is this version something different than a regular fullsac head pipe?  Guess I didn't realize there were different versions.
It is the "x" pipe. Like most manufacturers it seemed that some tweeking or changes were made to the x pipe (the current is version C).  I have been seeing better numbers fromt the C upgrade as compared to the B model...perhaps it is just coincedental---we may be getting better at dyno tuning or better pipe & better skills

rickybobby, I installed the fulsac stage one map,HD/K&N high flow air cleaner, but I used the 1.75 baffles and I think they sound just great.(You will not get good loud sound with these). If you ever go on a 4000 mile vacation you will probably get tired of the loud exhaust.(other people have told me this) I left the fiberglass packing in the original mufflers and I have noticed a little increase in sound since some of the fiberglass is probably burning away. The canned map from Fulsac is right on. I made these changes at 6k miles. I am only at about 17K right now since I usually only ride my 09 on longer trips. I have a nice 95 Heritage with S&S 107 for local riding.CAHDBIKER
