How do you activate sattelite radio?

I tried to use the XM sattelite radio and could only get like 3 channels.  Is there a way to activate it?  Please someone tell me what Im doing wrong.  :-/

When you call you need the bike radio to be on for like 15 minutes with a signal to activate so be prepared, also you will need the radio ID number on channel 1 i think, enjoy! I have it in my truck and a portabale unit I am trying to rig up to my bike. The truck one is built in to the sony deck with a XM reciever module plugged into it in the truck, the original one I had I broke a connection on it so bought one off ebay and hooked it up and it worked fine, then added a second portable - turns out the new unit in the truck is working fine because it is a factory or dealer demo unit someone sold on ebay, has no radio ID and no subscription, been a year now - and no bill !! Anyhow need to figure out a way to run my new portable on the SEEG!!

Well I called XM and they wanted my 3 month free trial code and of course I couldn't find it.  They were nice enough to activate it all I have to do is call them back tomoorow when my dealer can give me answer on where it is.  I checked the xm sattelite brochure and quickly glanced at the owners manual and couldn't find it there.  Thanks for all your help guys also if you have any idea where I might locate that code that would help.

When I picked up my 2006 it had a card included in the paperwork. It looked like an ad for XM radio but it had a code on the card that gave me the 3 free months.
I can't find the card right now but it was a generic code like HarleyXM or something like that.

When you turn on the XM Radio before calling it will display a XM CODE that you will need to give them (ADDRESS for the unit) Besure to get the three months free trial or ask about it.

Well I found the card and gave them the code it was harley XM3.  The represenative said she did not recognize the code but gave me the 3 months for free anyways.  My next task will be hooking up the garage door opener.  I don't think im going to do it today but will do so shortly.

I guess I got lucky, when I called XM they asked me what vehicle I had and the i.d. # of the radio and she said that was all she needed. She didn't ask me for anything else. No address, no credit card, nothing.

Don't need the helper.  You can program the receiver holding it in your hand standing next to the bike.  It doesn't have to be wired to the garage door opener first.

 If I keep hearing commercials I will not pay them for service after my free three months are expired. I thought the idea was COMMERCIAL FREE satellite programming !!!
