JESTER
« on: August 27, 2006, 04:45:35 PM »

Why is the CVO Ultra referred to as the JESTER?? I have been riding Ultras for 10 plus years now and even though I do not like the paint jobs or leather tour pak I decided to buy one in addition to my 03 since it is a special bike. Just seems they could have kept the painted tour pak and come up with a better paint job. All prevoius years look better than the 07 to me. THANKS GUYS, MACK

Mack, it's just an affectionate name that was given to it here after seeing the paint job.  It reminded many of a medieval court jester:

Congrats on your new ride!

That would be from me, good if you like it OR bad if you don't!!

3 or 4 different people told me in the first few days after I received my new bike that the paint graphics on the front fairing looked lile a Court JESTER's hat, and all of the guys that I ride with started calling my bike the JESTER, which I then posted on here!?!?!?

Stogie Mike will start bummin' if we speak of 07's ANY more today!!! :)

I have only seen the black and orange and it does look better than in print. But still, the colors are nothing to write home about. I noticed that when the green 06 came out someone on the site did a mock up of what the bike would look like with a painted tour pak. It was much better looking than the leather. The leather is much smaller in size and takes a lot of care to keep looking good. But with all its shortcomings I still plan to do a red and black.

BTW, I have heard a lot of problems with radios etc. Have these been resolved? I have heard one run and the exhaust note is better than last yearbut not quite there yet. I would not want to change the exhaust as i really like the 4 inch pipe and end caps it comes with. Now if someone would just make an SE sound in a 4 inch pipe I would be happy. Anyone if there is such an animal??

Keep your eyes glued here I believe someone that is/has getting/gotten an CUSE2 is going to have a King Tourpak painted to match there scooter. Sorry I can't remember the member that is doing this, but I'm sure when they get it done they will post pictures.

Does anyone know who does the paint for Harley?

I understand they don't do the CVO's in-house.

They do the CVO bikes in house. I have seen them assembled at York on the special line. I believe a contractual company does all their paint work and ships the components to the factory for assembly. For example, while york and kansas city assemble all bikes the engines and transmissions are built in Milwaukee and shipped to York and KC. FOR FINAL ASSEMBLY.HERES AN INTERESTING NOTE. THEY (HD) MAKE/MANUFACTURE ALL THEIR KICKSTANDS FROM SCRATCH. The machine that does it is very impressive.
