If you change Bars on a 2013 beware.....
« on: October 16, 2012, 05:28:13 PM »

Just got off the phone with my HD and they told me the stock 2013 bars are 1 1/4 all the way thru and don't step down to 1" so............................New riser and clamps on the way...

Extra $100 I didn't count on.

Story of my life :(

Actually.........   Ok, it didn't really bite me in the ass.  It bit Travis.  Had his red Road King changing bars and discovered what was going on in the evening after he left.  So bright and early the next morning he made the trip down to Pig Trail Harley (they had standard risers in stock) to get the other parts we'd need while I had a nice lazy breakfast.  Lazy is good when you can get away with it.

I wouldn't mind having 1 1/4 " from the grips all the way down....to fit the extra wires I'm puttin' in there for the Heat Demons and the bar mounted Garmin.

You'd think so....  Except the ID isn't consistently larger with the OD.  In fact some of the Harley bars the last couple of years have a smaller ID.  Enough so they have to be reamed to accept the Heat Demons elements.

I found out the same thing the hard way just a few days ago.  Dropped mine off at the dealer after receiving my Yaffe bars from Phat Performance to get them put on and I get a call from my mechanic and he says "you might want to take a look at these bars before I install them because I wouldn't put these on if I were you.  I'd request another set."  I go to pick them up and he shows me some rough spots where obviously some debri had make it under the powdercoating.  I contacted Baggernation to explain.  They e-mailed me back, not about the rough spots, but the fact that the bars wouldn't fit my '13 RGC.  Here's what he sent me...

We don’t have bars that will fit your bike. The clamp on the 2013 CVO is 1 ¼” our bars are 1” at the clamp. The second part is the hydraulic clutch line. They are using different ends and we haven’t found anything to work to extend that line. We haven’t said that our bars will work on the 2013 line yet because of these issues we have to solve first. You’ll have to send them back to Phat Performance. Hope we can get these issues solved soon.

Just placed an order for BR's Custom bars.  8 week wait and hoping they are worth it!

I have same issue.  I got my 13 CVO ultra in October and first thing I do is the bars.  Local HD dealer told me straight off the back they were trying to do some 12" bars and the Hydraulic clutch cable fitting changed this year and no after market company makes them yet.  So I called around and no one knew about it.  I want Yaffe bars on the bike so I called them and they didn't know about it and told me they will start working on it.  I ordered my bars from them and got he 16" monkey bars ordered them raw so that I can drill holes for Russell pro system II Hydraulic cable and brake cable through the bars and my legend air ride switch wires through the bars as well.  I will then take it to get chromed and ready to mount.  I have received the bars this week along with the supersize wire kit, but still no clutch fitting.  I called Brady who I have been talking with there and they apparently had a 13 cvo bike in the shop trying to create a fitting that would work and they haven't had any luck yet.  They seem to think within the first few week of January when people release their new products that the correct aftermarket fitting will be released.  As for the clamp size, Yaffe bars are 1" at the clamp so I ordered a 1" clamp setup from LA Choppers on Dennis Kirk Site for $118 here is the link https://www.denniskirk.com/la-choppers/handlebar-clamp-set-la741501.p598287.prd/598287.sku
