Switching to D&D Fat Cats
« on: October 16, 2012, 08:25:27 PM »

Ok so I wanna try D&D Fat Cats instead of my Fullsac X pipe and CFRs. I hope to gain a little more performance over that set up. I am going with the perforated unwrapped baffle. Will I gain much and will I have to retune right away???  Love the CFR sound but the Dyno sheet I posted seems to lack some performance. Ill be selling my existing set up.

Should I also change to a Horsepower Inc TB?

Besides the fact I'm crazy what do you think??

FullSac "C" pipe with Crusher mufflers & a great tune will produce near the same performance #'s as the Fat Cat & easier on the eardrums  :o

CFR's have a sound of their own, IMO not worth the trade of that "ugly" torque dip

I really like my D&D but the sound isnt for everyone.  I always encourage everyone to listen to one first.  It is NOT quiet!

If you are selling the x-pipe, will you list it here first?
I've got a bike here that I can use that pipe on!

I can't make any comparisons to the CFRs but you definitely won't be disappointed in the FatCat. I had both wrapped and unwrapped performance baffles. I like LOUD pipes but the unwrapped is ridiculously loud. Even I swapped out to the wrapped performance baffles which are great from my perspective but still very loud from the perspective of other riders.

I'm on my first D&D pipe and am not quite sure I like it yet.  I previously had thunderheaders and prefer the sound over the D&D.  Unfortunately thunderheader did not have a ghost pipe so I went with the D&D.  Performance is excellent but it is loud with a higher note, tingy compared to other pipes.  Not sure if I will do it again.

I have the Fat Kat on both of my dressers. I still run a Thunderheader on my Dyna. I like them both. I went with the quite baffle on my 2012, but Punkin has the performance baffle and it is a lot louder. Ole Punkin sounds like a big block chevy motor when she gets wound up.

I have always had Thunderheaders as well but switched to the Fatcats on this bike and though I do love the sound of th TH, I think these are even better. Very distinctive and unmistakable. I think you either love them or hate them...

I went from Vance & Hines to Reinhart, to D&D on my 2008 FLHRSE4,liked all of them, but the D&D are the loudest. Dyno with the D&D, tuner, And air filter made 100 H.P. and 118Ft. Lbs. torque. I am happy with mine, if you can deal with the noise.
