Has anyone replaced their Oil Cooler Hoses lately?

Has anyone replaced their Oil Cooler Hoses on and older SERK lately?

The hoses on my 03 SERK do not looked dry rotted nor are they leaking. I was considering replacing as a general maint. item.
So I called my local HD Dealer with my part number, P/N 62899-03 Hose Kit, oil cooler (w/upper & lower hose)
Imagine my shock when the Parts dept told me the P/N 62899-03 has been superceeded by P/N 62899-03B and now cost $98.00.
My two hoses are about 6" - 8' each and preformed. Really, $49 each?
I did a search and Latus HD had the OEM P/N listed as $9.95, but back ordered.

Worse still is that P/N 62899-03B are totally different hoses and do not fit my 03 SERK

Both of my hoses come from the right side to the ridght side of the cooler.
These new hoses come from the left side and one goes to the left side of the cooler and one to the right side of the cooler.

I do believe that I will be going to a Hi pressure hose shop and have some custom SS braided hoses made up. At least i will feel like I got something for my $100.

That's nuts for those lines Dennis.  It's also collateral damage of a very limited use part that was only on a few bikes and hasn't been used for several years.  Priced or planned obsolescence; whatever you call it.  Harley doesn't want to screw with old part numbers they'll hardly ever touch.  And if they have to they're going to at least make it worth their while.

Before I'd give Mother Harley a hundred bucks for a foot of rubber line I'd let them have their way with obsolescence.  I'd spend more elsewhere and get a new JAG cooler.  Better unit anyway and you'll be starting new all over rather than just the lines.  Could use your existing thermostatic oil filter adapter's output and input points.

Thanks for the Tip Don.
Unfortunately I just bought the HD Chrome Oil Cooler cover and installed a screen mesh in it to protect the fins.
Still something to consider though.

Baggie the old lines if you get them off clean.  Another couple of years they'll very likely be completely obsolete from the MoCo and there won't be an option.

:0) - I have had them off and thorughly looked them over. They had crappy hose clamps on them so i put the correct clamps back on.

Agreed, I should start now working on replacements lines.
