BBQ, BBQ and more BBQ

As a lot of you know I do like a little BBQ. I really like to cook it but there has come a time in my life that I really don't like to eat it that much anymore. I guess cooking it full time just takes the taste out of your mouth.

So I would like to give the members on this board a heads up. I will be cooking in the JACK DANIELS INVITATIONAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BBQ CONTEST this coming weekend (Friday the 26th and Saturday the 27th) at the Distillery in Lynchburg. If anyone is in the area please feel free to stop by. I won't have any "Q" till Saturday after 1:30 in the afternoon. You will be welcome to try anything we have cooked for the contest.

For those on the West Coast I will be in Vegas for the FOOD NETWORK INVITATIONAL WORLD FOOD CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST. From November 1st through the 4th. I think we will arrive on the 31st. We will be set up in the parking lot of Bally's. We will be cooking on the 2nd for sure and the 4th if we can make the final table. Again if you are in the area please stop by and say hi!!!!

I would like to see some old friends and meet some new. The team name is THE FIREFIGHTING BBQ TEAM. Just look for the banner.

Dawg,

I would have seriously made a trip to Vegas to get a sample of some of this prize BBQ I keep reading about. And also take a few notes on the recipe.

But I was having too much fun with my bike and it broke. It won't be running by November 1st..

I was hoping I could throw in a can of STP, carry jumper cables and crank the stereo to get me through until January but Jim said "NO".

Jim has a recipe we'll try that's supposed to put some fire back into the RG.

Hopefully somebody from the site can make it to support Dawg.

Wow I am on cloud nine right. Headed for Vegas stopped in AZ at the canyon for 2 days to rest and regroup.

In Lynchburg Tenn it was 87 of the worlds best teams. We finished 5th in chicken and lost a tie breaker in ribs to give us a 3rd place finish in the rib category, pork and brisket were down the list but we still finished 10th overall.

Wow what a trip. Finally made it home after blowing a trailer tire on 40 in Kingman then hitting an ELK on 70 in Rifle Colorado on the trip home.

The team did an excellent job finishing number 1 in the World in Potato Salad and number 2 in the World in the Side Dish category. Well I can finally say my baked beans are World Class!!!!
We had so much fun we are going back next year. We got an automatic invite to both events. Now if the TV deal that they talked to us about on Sunday evening pans out and gets put on paper, I can say this was the greatest trip I have ever been on!!!!!
